AGM is announced, downloadable application forms, and lots of events

Welcome to the first Newsletter from the Peckham Liberal CLub

News and AGM 30th March

Peckham Liberal Club has received over 70 new membership applications since the start of the year as the campaign to rejuvenate the Club hits full swing. This will take total membership up to over 350 this year.
After very uncertain prospects last year, the Club’s profile has been boosted thanks to a series of special events open to non-members, a Facebook and Twitter presence, and the club premises' listing as an “asset of community value”. The really good news is that we've made very big inroads into our debt - shortly to be completely gone.
Local people are waking up to what social clubs can offer the community. While traditional pursuits like darts, snooker and bingo remain at the heart of the Club, recent months have also seen the Club host yoga classes, Christmas craft markets and amateur orchestral performances. Special non-member events are bringing many people into the club for the first time to experience the uniquely informal and convivial social club atmosphere.

We now have a date for our AGM - Sunday 30th March at lunch time. Please do come along to vote, hear news and contribute your views to the club.

If you are a member and wish to be on the committee of 14 that governs the club, please come and put your name up on the board in the club. You need two nominees, and there is a vote if more than 14 people come forward. If you have relevant experience or enthusiasm we would welcome volunteers for the committee.

Paddy's Shindig

We have our first in-house event open to the public on 15th March - bar manager Maggie is organising Paddy's Shindig on the 15th March! Don't miss this as we have a band playing live Irish music, Irish dancers, Kinsale beer from local Brick Brewery, and Peckham Refreshment Rooms is providing classic Irish food with a twist. See below for details - tickets here. All proceeds got to the club and we hope to be able to replace the carpet in our large side bar from this.
