Ilios Project Updates: Making curriculum in the health professions more meaningful in a complex and changing world.
curriculum management for the health professions

THIS WEEK IN ILIOS

No release this week, as we finalize our QA/QC work on search. We are still on track for a launch of search later this summer, with features rolling out automatically for ilios schools hosted by us. For self-hosted schools, please let us know if you are interested in deploying search yourselves, and we can provide you with information. Just send us a note at support@iliosproject.org

If you are up to date with v3.67.0 we've rolled out a few minor updates to the interface, including some updates for better security, and a new timestamp feature for session management activity:

You'll see these updates the next time you update your frontend for Ilios.

For schools who are using, or considering using, cloud hosting for your own edtech services: we are currently working on a shareable cloud deployment template for Ilios, which can generate a containerized Ilios environment for you in the AWS cloud. This is based on the templating we are using for our own deployments, so when ready will be effectively a roll-your-own version of the best-of-breed, best practice Ilios model for AWS. We hope to be able to publish this in the coming weeks, and will let you know when it is available for you to experiment with. If your institution would be interested in helping us to test this system, we'd love to have you be part of our process! Please let us know your interest at support@iliosproject.org.

OTHER UPDATES: Summer Vacation!

Just a note to let you know that with this email, Ilios will "go silent" on our email updates for the remainder of the month of July, as folks take vacations, head to conferences, and things get quiet. Work is continuing as noted: search will be coming, and the new cloud templates, and more stuff too -- and we will let you know all about it when the next email goes out in early to mid August.

Until then: have a great summer, and as always, thank you for being part of the Ilios community! We value your feedback, collaboration, and support!

if you have questions please don't hesitate to send us a note at support@iliosproject.org.

The latest code and the complete changelog for this release, as always, are available for download here:

WE CAN HOST YOU: https://www.iliosproject.org/hosting/
Get automatic upgrades, always stay on the most current releases, and enjoy the security of knowing that your servers are being managed by the core Ilios team! We can help migrate your existing Ilios, or if you are new to Ilios we can spin you up an original setup. Interested in having us host your Ilios instance in our secure production environment? Let us know!
Check out https://www.iliosproject.org/hosting/ and if interested, please contact us for additional details, pricing and more info.

LTI DEPLOYMENT: You can now plug the Ilios events & calendar dashboard, as well as the course manager, directly into your LTI-compatible LMS pages. It's as easy as clicking your mouse (two or three times). In order to deploy, you will need to be provided with a secure access key. Please email us for complete instructions at support@iliosproject.org.

TRAINING: Are you interested in getting a focused training for your power Ilios users and managers in your school or institution? We can do that for you: 1.5 - 2 days of focused training on the most effective ways to leverage Ilios as power users, and deliver information to your students and faculty in the best way possible, custom-tailored for your needs and methodologies. Please contact us if you are interested.

How to Update Your Frontend:
The Ilios frontend is always up-to-date on our content-delivery servers at Amazon S3, but you will need to regularly run a console command on your backend instance in order ensure that your users are seeing the latest version and that they are getting all the latest features and bugfixes. To make sure you users are receiving the latest frontend code at all times, just follow the steps described here:
 https://github.com/ilios/ilios/blob/master/docs/update.md

Though you will probably never need to deploy the Ilios 3 Frontend on your own servers, the source for the frontend code can always be found at https://github.com/ilios/frontend/releases.

The changelog for updates specific to the frontend can be viewed here.
