A happy Easter, hag sameah
& good Passover, and an early Ramadan mubarak
to all of you who may be celebrating during this time of distancing and isolation and difficulty. We here at ilios are wishing you all health and happiness during these challenging times.
I hope you all are staying well and safe during this time, and avoiding zoombombing or accidentally flipping on the webcam while still in pajamas! Lots to share regarding progress and activities with Ilios.
First, I have placed our Communications and Development quadrants into Yellow
this month, out of regard for the current health crisis and its impacts on our daily work lives, as well as the fact that the team is extremely busy with a variety of parallel efforts. We will be keeping these as the status until some semblance of stability and normalcy return.
This past month has been primarily focused on core code improvements and bugfixes, of which there have been many (with more than a dozen repository release updates all told); we have also launched with today's updates our improved calendar filters, with easier course and year selection, better performance, and simpler interface.
In addition, we have updated and improved the tools for linking session and course objectives to their respective parents, alleviating some of the hassles that can arise with that aspect of the mapping process. And finally, we have made tremendous headway in remaking our offerings manager, to be better, faster, simpler to use, and much friendlier overall. Along with that we are providing the ability to assign individual learners -- not just learner groups -- to any offering created. This feature, as well as additional filter improvements, will be rolling out slowly, and will be added to for better display, tracking, and usability in the coming weeks.
While the future is full of uncertainty, the budget here remains on track, and we do not foresee issues in the near to midterm due to any COVID-19 related issues.
For our hosted schools, we are fast coming up on renewal season, and happily we can let you know now, costs for your hosting will remain at current levels, or at a reduction from current levels, for the next yearly cycle. If your school currently self-hosts, please do consider the option of hosting with us
during this time of constrained resources and staffing. Once implemented, running costs for a hosted Ilios subscription are extremely reasonable, and we can be sure that your systems remain up, up to date, and fully operational for your faculty learners and staff wherever they may be situated.

In the coming 6-8 weeks, we are additionally tackling our planned work on providing the ability to tag individual objectives with terms from the vocabularies, improving the presentation of learning materials, and adding the new role of "tutor", which will allow for the assignment of learners (or anyone else) to a controlled peer-tutor role in a given activity. Each of these feature improvements is in direct response to requests and voiced needs of the Ilios community, and we hope that our solutions present a more flexible and robust tool for you and your learners.
: We have received reports of Ilios no longer working on Apple's operating system iOS 13.4.1
. This affects iPhones and iPads.
Any operating system below 13.4 should continue to work.
If you access Ilios on an iPad or iPhone, we recommend against upgrading to iOS 13.4.1 at this time
. This is a known issue for Apple, and a fix should be released shortly.
If you have already upgraded, you may use a desktop or laptop computer rather than an Apple portable device until this has been fixed in a future iOS update. This issue does not affect laptop or desktop operating systems.
To check your operating system, go to Settings >> General >> About. The version installed on your device will be indicated in this location.
