SAVANA DIEM RECOMMENDS
THE SWISS INSTITUTE LIBRARY

Hi, I'm Savana, the Cultural Affairs and Education intern at the Swiss Consulate. I've loved spending the past 6 months exploring and discovering New York and looking for unexpected places hidden in this vast and wonderful city. I came across the library at the Swiss Institute only towards the end to my time here. Located on the second floor of the Swiss Institute in the Ukrainian Village - surrounded by diverse and delicious food options - the library is the perfect little hideout to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. It was created as an education & public programs space for children, teens and adults alike to engage with contemporary art and take part in workshops. Their library is also a wonderful place to catch up on your studies or work, because what better way to take a break than to step out and right into an art exhibit! While you're there, make sure to check out Meret Oppenheim's Hermes Fountain on their beautifully curated roof terrace. The Swiss Institute is open to the public and free of charge, so be sure to stop by on your next visit to the East Village!
