Monthly Meeting Highlights 


November Monthly Meeting 

The monthly meeting was held on November 18 at 7:00 pm at the Lenexa Public Market.  Board members in attendance were: Martha, Judy, Denise, Michelle, Janet, Kevin, and Treka.  The board members continued discussions for the following agenda items that will be discussed in more detail at the Annual Meeting on December 9 at 7:00 PM: 
  • Budgetary needs for 2020 and beyond (such as the South entrance monument) 
  • Continued reviewing the 5-year plan from last month's meeting (considered trash increases, retaining wall, pulling trees, possible adding additional pool furniture, etc.) 
  • Discussed two proposals for the pool house renovation 
  • 3% increase in HOA dues for 2020 (increase from $520 to $535), which takes into account the changes in contract and maintenance costs for trash, landscaping and pool 
All residents are encouraged to attend any of the monthly meetings.  The next meeting is the annual meeting.

ARE YOU READY TO SERVE YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD IN A MORE ACTIVE ROLE IN 2020?
Your participation, ideas and leadership are needed to help effectively manage our property and keep our neighborhood connected.   
Open positions with no incumbent are:
1St Vice President:  This position is the liaison with the city, main point of contact for our Trash & Recycling (which includes managing the contract and coordinating our bulky pick up dates), and also will be eligible for the President role in 2021.  
Social Chairperson:  Coordinate the planning of ‘all ages’ events for the community with the help of volunteer social committee members.  (Easter Egg Hunt, Block Party, Adult Night, Bike Parade, etc.)
Please reach out to any current board member for additional insight or information for these two positions.  

 
POOL
The pool area will be getting some additional sturdy table and chairs to ring in next pool season.  For questions or concerns regarding the pool, a pool key, or info about renting the pool, please contact Michelle Kring at chelleyo@everestkc.net

COMMUNITY SERVICE
Christmas Party for the Kiddos (at the Soup Kitchen) 
The party is on Saturday, December 7 at the Soup Kitchen.
The group will leave Karen Miltko’s at 9:00 am. All are welcome!  Please let Karen know either at DolliMat@aol.com or (913) 888-0576.  Any donated gifts for infants to teens would be appreciated very much.  Please wrap them or put in holiday bags with the gender and age group on outside of gifts. DROP OFF at Karen's NLT Friday night, DECEMBER 6.  It is so special and wonderful seeing children get their gifts! Some mothers put them away for kids to open on Christmas. Please help Karen make this a special moment for children that are less fortunate!!!

SOCIAL COMMITTEE

If there is any interest within the neighborhood for anyone to step up and volunteer to be the Social Chair, this position will be voted on during the Annual Meeting on December 9.  Please email the HOA Board at bwplenexa@gmail.com or one of the Board Members directly.  For those who are interested in what the position may entail, please contact Janet Lien at janet_a_warner@yahoo.com or the BWP email address. 

  


ARCHITECTURE  
Just as a reminder, when considering any exterior projects, please contact Kevin Knipp at kevin.knipp@gmail.com. The project must be approved before the work has begun. This includes new roofs, painting the exterior of your home (even if it is the same color choice) and any project for the outside of your home. We want to ensure that the work aligns with the bylaws. To review the bylaws, please visit our website or email one of the Board Members.  
 


ADVERTISE WITH US!   
BWP Residents' children can advertise their services in the monthly newsletter free of charge. We will have a section with the child's name, contact info, and services offered (ie: mowing, babysitting, etc.) If a more extensive ad is wanted, a regular ad (see below) can be purchased. Our regular advertising will continue to be offered. If you have a business or service that you wish to advertise to our neighborhood, please consider using our newsletter as the advertising avenue. The BWP resident costs are quite low and will reach all of our BWP residents.

Payments should be made to "Brookwood Place Homes Association" and mailed to our address: PO Box 15372, Lenexa, KS 66285.  Send the ad to the BWP email address, bwplenexa@gmail.com. Prices for the ad are as follows: 

1/4 of a page ad $10    |    1/2 page ad $20    |    Full page ad $25
