Hello neighbors!
July 12, 2021 Brookwood Place HOA Board held its Monthly Meeting at the pool. In attendance, were 2021 Board members: Thom Tomlinson, Ron Davis, Michelle Kring, Ashley Shadel and Jan Kinney.
Topics of discussion included:
- New pool lock will be installed. It will work with current keys.
- BWP fest will be scheduled around the end of Sept.
- Pool parties scheduled for Aug. 1, 4, 9 and 19. Most pool parties start at 7:00; signs will be posted the day of the party.
- Repair work will be done to the BWP monuments at the 2 entrances to the subdivision; planned for Sept.

All residents are encouraged to attend any of the monthly meetings. The HOA Board holds monthly meetings every second Monday of the month.

The Secretary position has been filled by Jan Kinney. A big thanks to Ashley Shadel who has been filling in until the position was filled!

Wanting to make updates to your home? Great!
In order to ensure the work aligns with our Bylaws, residents must remember to contact the Architecture Chairperson regarding any exterior changes. Projects must be approved by the architecture committee before the work begins, EVEN IF YOU'VE OBTAINED APPROVAL FROM THE CITY. This includes any exterior changes or additions, new roofs, fences, landscape changes, driveways, patios, decks, painting the exterior of your home (even if it is the same color choice) and any project for the outside of your home. Bylaws can be found here.
Wondering what requires a building permit?
According to the City of Lenexa website, any remodeling or construction projects in your home that relate to framing, electrical, mechanical or plumbing require a building permit. Cosmetic changes such as painting, cabinetry, carpeting, siding, lawn sprinklers and landscaping improvements do not require a permit. For additional information, please refer to the City's Remodeling Project Permits website. Please keep in mind any permits obtained from the city will also need approval from the board.

THANK YOU to those of you who have addressed your hazardous Ash trees. There are still several Ash trees in the neighborhood that are a risk hazard for the sidewalks and streets that need action from our neighbors. The city of Lenexa may take action, so it is important to remove any hazardous trees, especially near sidewalks and streets as soon as possible.

BWP Residents' children can advertise their services in the monthly newsletter free of charge. We will have a section with the child's name, contact info, and services offered (ie: mowing, babysitting, etc.) If a more extensive ad is wanted, a regular ad (see below) can be purchased. Our regular advertising will continue to be offered. If you have a business or service that you wish to advertise to our neighborhood, please consider using our newsletter as the advertising avenue. The BWP resident costs are quite low and will reach all of our BWP residents.
