Help name our new nature playground mascot
Spring bird hike next Monday
Thank you to the Saginaw Bay Watershed Initiative Network!
The conservancy recently received a generous $1,000 action grant from the Saginaw Bay Watershed Initiative Network for our nature playground at Discovery Preserve. WIN's support of this effort provided a critical funding boost to push this project to an exciting level in line with our vision of a very high-quality nature playground for children and their families.
As you can see below, we've already started work on the playground! We've already selected logs and had them delivered to the site, and we are in the process of building a small play cabin offsite! Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more playground updates and progress pictures. The playground will be completed by mid-June.
Help Name Our Playground Mascot!
We need help naming our new beaver mascot for the nature playground! If you have kids or grandkids (or know any kids) 12 years and younger, have them submit a name! We are looking for a fun, cute, and CREATIVE name for this little guy. The winner will be announced on June 6th and will receive a special prize! Go here to submit your name suggestion.
Spring Bird Hike at McLean Nature Preserve
Join SBLC staff and landowners Jim and Shirley McLean next Monday, May 16th, at 5:30 p.m. on a spring birding hike at the McLean Nature Preserve! This privately owned property, under the protection of a conservation easement held by the SBLC, hosts a plethora of habitats for a wide variety of birds. The hike will be on natural surface trails which may be muddy in spots, so be sure to wear some sturdy boots for the walk!
The McLean Nature Preserve is located at 2199 Flajole Rd., Rhodes, MI 48652. Contact Trevor at firstname.lastname@example.org or (989)-891-9986 with any questions!
