Mon, 2/10, 2-3pm, Tapestry Springboro Nature Series - Coyotes with Naturalist Shannon. Free and open to the public, no RSVP required. If you have seen or heard a coyote in the area, you’re not alone! Are these animals a real threat to people and pets? What should you do if you see one? If you’ve never seen a coyote up close, you can check out a taxidermy specimen and pelt at this program. Sat, 2/15, 9:30am-4pm and Sun., 2/16, 2-7pm: Great Backyard Bird Count at Hisey Park. Free and open to the public. No birding experiencing necessary. No RSVP required. Come for 15 minutes, or stay the whole time! In the cozy confines of Hisey Park’s historic farmhouse, take part in a worldwide bird count sponsored by Cornell University and the National Audubon Society. You will learn how to officially count different birds you see and will get help with identifying new birds you may never have seen. If weather permits, groups may venture out into the many habitats of Hisey Park to spot birds and other wildlife, or stay in the farmhouse, snuggle up to a window, sip coffee, tea, hot chocolate or cider, munch on snacks and count birds at several bird feeders around the house. Hisey Park, 5443 Middletown Rd., Waynesville, OH. Facebook Event
Mon, 2/17, 1-2pm, Otterbein Nature Series: Nature Nurses Wildlife Rescue. FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! Join us at this month’s program to meet volunteers who rescue and rehabilitate orphaned, abandoned, and injured wildlife. What does it mean to be a state-permitted rehabber, what is involved, and who can do it? Naturalist Shannon and guests from Nature Nurses Wildlife Rescue will share some of the tools of the trade as well as “the good, the bad, and the ugly” of wildlife rehab. All ages are welcome. No RSVP required. We meet in the Phillippi Room at Otterbein Senior Life of Lebanon, 585 N St Rt 741, Lebanon, OH. Facebook Event
