FRIDAY 11th NOVEMBER 2016 - CARDBOARD & COMPUTERS
A Perfect Storm of Pop-ART Multimedia Collaboration
Otis Frizzell & Mike Weston, with Tom Ludvigson
\\
New Paintings. New Limited Edition prints
Plus a Video Installation & Vinyl Release
Weston Frizzell brings you another exceptional exhibition, but with a twist - they've (was just a matter of time) produced a very special 12 inch release, a first for the pop-art duo, alongside 20 new paintings and a hot new limited edition print + vinyl package. The song is what one can only describe as a genre slam of electro vapour-wave salsa metal and has informed the entire exhibition, oozing nostalgia in a 1980's misspent youth kinda way.  The familiar heavy painterly impasto icky-ness of the paint that Weston Frizzell layers and seemingly sculpts in the process brings an ironic human connectivity to the subject matter.  Pacman, Trump, jackpot cherries, the peoples flag, spray cans, skulls and ghoulish smiley faces painted in heavily textured pixelated icons, and found throughout the installation actually pixelated in an L.E.D 8 bit homage to a hypnotic degree.
This show is both a shocking reminder of the times, and a sweet screaming guitar lick to the face of days gone by. If you need a wee cuddle to slap you out of a post election catatonic malay, swing on by! more info here

AN ALL NEW WAY TO EXPERIENCE ART
This week, a brand new pop-up channel on SKY gives you a unique way to experience art in your home. From 10 - 17 November, ART YOUR TV will turn your television into a revolving showcase of artwork, featuring pieces from several of our artists such as Karley Feaver, Kezia Barnett and Angus McNaughton. The free pop-up gallery will display over 70 pieces of artwork over the course of the week, and every piece shown is available for purchase. If you’d like to know more, visit artyourtv.co.nz, and if you’re a SKY subscriber, head to channel 220 to check it out.
