We would like to welcome to the GNC Coordination Team Annabel Judith Hodge, who joined us as Knowledge Management Specialist.

We are also happy to release the Guidance brief on how to incorporate Cash in Nutrition Response, which is an abridged version of the Cash for Nutrition Outcomes Guidance released in 2020. It focuses on the main recommendations for the coordination teams and partners on what should be done to implement cash and voucher assistance for nutrition.

GNC Technical Alliance Conversations: Podcasts | As the COVID response shifts and people are wanting to understand more how programmes are being adapted, the GNC Technical Alliance has put together a series of ‘connecting conversations’ in which programmers can reflect broadly what approaches they are currently taking- what is working well and what have the challenges been along the way so that others can hear and learn from such experiences.
WHO Guidance on Breastfeeding and COVID-19 Vaccines | The WHO Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization has shared interim guidance related to breastfeeding and the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines. WHO does not recommend discontinuing breastfeeding after vaccination. New updates on the Maternal and Child Health, Nutrition and COVID-19 scientific repository. 132 new publications have been added since January 12th, 2021. The updated repository is available here

GNC-CT hired a Knowledge Management Specialist

Judith Hodge took up her role as Knowledge Management (KM) Specialist with the GNC-CT team in January 2021. She has a masters’ degree in Public Health Nutrition and over 12 years’ experience in both global and UK-based nutrition projects, with a focus on delivering nutrition research and ‘stories’ to a wider audience, curating and disseminating knowledge across all platforms (on and offline).

Guidance brief on how to incorporate cash in nutrition response

The document provides step-by-step guidance throughout the humanitarian programme cycle on how to incorporate cash and voucher assistance (CVA) into a nutrition response. It provides references to additional resources on how to operationalize the guidance into practice. It focuses on CVA-specific considerations in nutrition responses. It concludes with recommendations to the nutrition cluster/sector coordination teams and nutrition practitioners.

Yemen Integrated Famine Risk Reduction Case Study | French version

The Case study on Yemen Integrated Famine Risk Reduction (IFRR) strategy is now available in French! 

Yemen Food Security and Agriculture Cluster, the Water and Sanitation Cluster, the Nutrition Cluster and the Health Clusters launched in October 2017 the Yemen Integrated Famine Risk Reduction (IFRR) strategy, and the current case study (now available in French and English) explores its development and implementation.

The Global Nutrition Cluster Technical Alliance has Qualified Consultants Ready for Deployment!

Are you or your organization seeking qualified nutrition consultants?

The GNC Technical Alliance Consultant Rosters have more than 100 vetted consultants speaking more than 40 languages from around the world, ranging from Junior to Senior level in the following technical areas: 

  1.  Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM)
  2.  Infant and Young Child Feeding in emergencies (IYCF-E)
  3.  Micronutrient supplementation in emergencies 
  4.  Integrated nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive interventions
  5.  Needs assessment and analysis for nutrition outcomes (SMART, IYCF-E, coverage surveys and qualitative assessments)

Any partner, agency, cluster, sector or technical working group in country identifying a need for nutrition staff support can submit a request for consultant recommendations. The GNC Technical Alliance Consultant Roster’s goal is to provide fast, qualified, consultant recommendations with specific technical knowledge in emergency nutrition.
