No matter how we say it or display it,

Your Name

Neuroworx Donor Wall Rendering
This is your opportunity to contribute to
 the new Neuroworx building
in a big and bold way.

In appreciation,

Your Name

 will be placed permanently
and prominently on the new
Neuroworx Donor Wall.

Your gift will not only be used to construct
our facility, but shape

Our Future.

You will be among a select group of Legacy Donors,
whose names are showcased
as a lasting symbol of generosity.

Thank you for being part of our mission to push past paralysis!

Think about it. A new two-level, 24,500 square foot facility specifically designed for Neuroworx. A facility in which we can provide superlative therapy to even more individuals devastated by catastrophic conditions. A facility that will allow Neuroworx to reach its aspiration as a premier neurorehabiliation provider.

Here's why this matters. We need to raise 9 million dollars to purchase the new building. Purchasing the building outright will secure our financial independence and will allow resources to be directed toward patient care, clinical research, and the education of a new generation of specialized therapists.

The truth is time is of the essence and we need capital funding now.

Now that you know you can tell others! Hit up your parents, siblings, best friends, colleagues--people who you know will be excited to support Neuroworx.

Your Name will make all the difference in Our Future.

After ten years, we are more convinced than ever that more is needed and more is possible when it comes to supporting the neurological recovery of individuals with paralysis. Please support us by DONATING NOW with this link or the Your Name. Our Future. button below.

'PASS IT ALONG' AWARD

Dale Hull and Jan Black are presented a check from Derrick Favors of the Utah Jazz and Marshall Paepke, EVP/Chief Administrative Officer of Mountain America Credit Union

Neuroworx Receives ‘Pass It Along’ Award
from Utah Jazz & Mountain America

On December 9, 2015, the Utah Jazz and Mountain America Credit Union announced Neuroworx as this season’s second recipient of “Pass It Along.”

In a public statement representatives explained that Neuroworx was chosen “in recognition of its significant and ongoing contributions to local residents.” Neuroworx was presented with a $5,000 donation during the Jazz home game on December 9th by Utah Jazz forward/center Derrick Favors and Mountain America Executive Vice President Marshall Paepke.

As part of the program, Neuroworx recently welcomed Jazz head Athletic Trainer Gary Briggs to learn first-hand about our efforts, take a tour of our facility and spend time with some of our clients.

“The Neuroworx organization is proud to be selected as the recipient of the ‘Pass It Along’ award,” stated Executive Director Dale Hull. “We are extremely grateful to the Utah Jazz and Mountain America Credit Union. This contribution will make a tremendous difference to the individuals in our community working through the devastation of paralysis.”

Neuroworx has cared for more than 800 patients since its inception in 2004 and is committed to promote the rehabilitation of spinal cord injuries and other neurological conditions by offering creative, highly-specialized therapies and equipment, regardless of the patient’s ability to pay.

We express our appreciation to the Utah Jazz and Mountain America for their support.

PATIENT SPOTLIGHT
From L to R: Matt Hansen, Kathleen Berrett, Colton Berrett, Matt Carter, and Kate McDermott
Colton Berrett

Like every dutiful and caring mother, Kathleen Berrett sought to protect her son, Colton, from anything and everything. On February 1, 2014, thirteen-year-old Colton received a vaccination. Unfortunately two weeks later, he experienced an adverse reaction that caused a widespread auto-immune inflammatory response that affected his spinal cord causing paralysis in the neck and arm.

He was admitted to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 17th and was immediately intubated and placed on a ventilator due to his inability to breathe. Within a week the paralysis had traveled throughout his entire core and down to his feet (acute longitudinal transverse myelitis).

After spending 3 weeks in the pediatric intensive care unit he was transferred to the neurotrauma unit and began a vigorous daily routine of physical, occupational and speech therapy for the remainder of his 3-month stay at Primary Children’s.

When he was discharged, Colton immediately began therapy at Neuroworx. Within just a couple of weeks he went from needing a great deal of walking-assistance to taking actual normal-sized steps. He continues to make progress and is gradually regaining strength in his core, legs, and left arm, despite his tracheostomy and ventilator-dependence.

Colton now has limited use of his left hand and is working hard to regain the use of his right hand, hold his head up and breathe on his own. Everyone is amazed at how well he communicates with the use of a speaking valve.

This kind of progress does not come easy and without great sacrifice from Colton, his mom, dad, brother, and sister. Colton attends therapy 3 to 4 times a week. Each treatment day is a 5-hour commitment due to the 120 mile round trip just to get to therapy. The therapists at Neuroworx devote an extra amount of time per visit because of the long commute. Colton has made 105 therapy visits since starting at Neuroworx in addition to attending school for his ninth grade year.

“Colton is a happy, healthy, and athletic boy”, says Kathleen. “Despite his circumstance, he continues on with a smile on his face and a determined and hopeful outlook.” He and his mother have touched many lives with their upbeat and positive attitudes throughout this devastating last year. “We’ll get through it”, Kathleen states emphatically.

Of their experience with Neuroworx, she simply says, “They’re amazing and have done great things for Colton. They go the extra mile to help Colton continue to make progress. We’re grateful to have a clinic available that provides this type of specialized care.”
