Each new year prompts us to think about our future and reflect on the past. As I look back at 2014, I'm proud of what LIM359 has become thanks to the dedication of our members and supporters. As an organization that is fully dependant upon unpaid volunteers, LIM359 would not be what it is today without those members who have decided to take an active role by joining the Board or one of our numerous committees. I am humbled by the commitment so many of you have made - thank you!
In 2014 LIM359 hosted at least one activity per month for our members, with activities ranging from rock climbing to group dinners to a tour of the Air Force Academy. We formed a Fundraising Committee whose members successfully hosted LIM359's first fundraiser in June and surpassed even their own expectations. We also started an Outreach Committee who is working on spreading the word about the Amputee Coalition's Peer Visitor Program. Finally, we formed an Activities Committee whose members have taken on most of the responsibility for planning our monthly activities.
As I envision LIM359 in 2015, I see an organization that continues to exist for the purpose of providing opportunities for peer support through participation in group activities. This is our mission and our driving force. I strongly believe that our Board and numerous committees will continue to work hard to keep the life force of LIM359 strong as we move into the new year and I'm excited to see what's to come. If you have any interest in joining an existing committee or have an idea for an additional committee, please let us know as we are always looking for fresh ideas.
I love what LIM359 has grown into since we started the organization in June of 2013, but of course there is always room for improvement. One area we'd really like to see improved in 2015 is our online presence, specifically our blog. With an improved blog, we can act as a resource for other people with limb loss and limb difference, not just in Denver, but throughout the U.S. and even the world (our website is regularly viewed by people from Europe as well as the U.S.). We would love to gather thoughts and/or pictures from our members that we can share with our readers. These thoughts could be as short as a few sentences or as long as a few paragraphs. To help you get started, perhaps you'd like to share thoughts and pictures on the following topics:
What are your favorite memories from 2014?
What are your personal goals for 2015?
How did 2014 compare to 2013, whether it was your 1st or 15th year as an amputee?
As always, please send any questions or comments to email@example.com. Thank you again to everyone who supports LIM359!
Best wishes in 2015! Emily Harvey, LIM359 President
