Here at Spring into Action, we are looking forward to the Olympic Games in Rio. Due to start on 5th August, its an exciting time get behind our athletes and hope for glory on the medals table.

With this in mind, we are launching a ‘Summer of Olympics’ at our Inclusive Community Sports Club, starting next Friday 29th July.

We are lucky enough to welcome an athletics coach to work with young people and offer a range of Olympic style events. Ben Armstrong is a UK Athletics Association Coach and coaches with Blackburn Harriers Athletics Club. He will be with the club for 5 sessions between July and September to enable the group to have a go at javelin, relay races, high jump, long jump, sprinting and more.
So far, 19 people have accessed the club sessions and the group are calling on local young people to come down and take part in the ‘Summer of Olympics’ events.
Spring into Sport is based at Hyndburn Leisure Centre on Henry Street, Accrington and provides a range of sport and physical activity at fortnightly sports sessions.
The ‘Summer of Olympic’ activities are open to any young person aged 11 and over and take place on 29th July, 12th and 26th August, 2nd and 16th September. Sessions run 6.30pm – 8.30pm and cost just £3 per person.
