Train Volunteers With Spring into Action!
It's a bit late for Happy New Year as we enter February, but we've been so busy over the last few weeks, we've simply forgotten to send our best wishes to you for 2017!
What have we been busy with...well we've been working hard to develop our Spring into Sport sessions, and currently members are taking part in Trampolining. We recently submitted our mid term figures to our funder and can report that we worked with 31 people since we started the club, with 21 people regularly attending. We can still accommodate more people, so please forward details to anyone that would be interested in taking part in our inclusive sports sessions. The next session takes place this evening (Friday 27th January) and we run fortnightly 6.30pm - 8.30pm down at Hyndburn Sports Centre, at a cost of £3.50.
As many people start on a health kick in January, we have also introduced an element of a previous project into our sessions and for those that want to, we are offering a weigh in, with a chance to get on the scales, chat and set goals for improved health.
We are currently training 10 people as Sports Volunteers and this cohort of people are due to end their training next month. We can now announce that a second training course will begin on 7th April and we have space for 12 people to join us to become Level 1 Sports Volunteers. Click here for more information.
We continue to offer our popular Spring into Tennis project in Clitheroe, and have recently finished working at Broadfield Specialist School in Oswaldtwistle, where we worked with a group of their FE pupils building their confidence on presentations.
Spring into Phab is our young person led, multi activity youth project. The group are running regular Dance sessions on a Saturday morning in partnership with DanceSyndrome, and will launch Monday night youth club sessions in February. The hard work and dedication of the young volunteers has really paid off for them, having brought in over £10,000 in funding over the past 12 months.
New Home Wanted
For those of you interested, we set up Spring into Action just over 4 years ago, and it is our goal for 2017 to move into offices (it's great that we can work from home, but as we grow we need more space). So we are now looking for a space to call home, ideally within an existing organisation as we are not a Monday-Friday, 9-5 organisation. So if you know of anywhere that can help us out with an office, or a desk or two, and can also provide some storage, please get in touch so we can begin to look. We'd love to be in the Hyndburn or Ribble Valley area and will consider both!
That's all for now, but we hope to bring you more news this year through our bulletins.
