CALLER: Is it possible for me to get financial assistance to help pay for a trip? I am a college student, and I want to travel more but travelling is rather complicated and expensive. I use a wheelchair for mobility and I have to have a personal assistant with me. A friend of mine suggested I check out The Arc National Conference in Washington D.C.

PATHFINDER: What a great question! The Tennessee Council on Developmental Disabilities has a Scholarship Fund that you can apply for, as a person with disabilities who would be attending that conference for the first time. Click here to read the full response!
The Holidays are coming soon!
Many organizations offer "holiday wish" programs that help provide gifts to those who need financial assistance. If you think you will use a gift giving service this year, now is the time to start planning - lists fill up fast.
If you need help locating an appropriate service in your area, give us a call!
Lindsey Becker, Ms. Wheelchair Tennessee 2018, talks about flying and the TSA Cares program.
Thanks Lindsey for the great tips!
FREE! FREE! FREE! Summer Fun!
As much fun as summer is, we know it can also be tough on families to entertain children and teens while school is out! Summer camps, play dates, and recreational activities are all great options - but can be costly! Luckily, there are many places throughout Tennessee that offer FREE activities for kids and families. These are especially abundant in larger cities like Knoxville, Nashville, and Memphis. Resources will list these activities either on web sites or in free magazines, however they do tend to be locally-focused.

For those of you in the Middle TN area, check out this great list of free activities and events for kids from Nashville Parent. If you are outside of Middle TN, a quick Google search may help you find free activities in your area. You can also check out our online calendar!

Enjoy Nature this Summer in our Great State!
Accessible Nature is a web site that has compiled a list of places in the United States and Canada that are accessible to individuals with different abilities. The trails include very few obstacles and are either accessible for wheelchairs or include very little walking.
