The Invisible Orientation is a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award!

My book has been selected as one of eight finalists in the LGBT Nonfiction category for the Lambda Award, which is the most well-known and prestigious book award in LGBT literature. I'm so honored to be considered! Winners will be announced in an awards ceremony held in New York City on June 1, 2015. I am making arrangements now to attend.

Ace Sightings: Publications and Media

The reception for the book has been incredible. Check out the following exciting media mentions and writings of mine that got picked up by mainstream outlets:

Upcoming Appearances and Personal News

  • On April 13, 2015, I will be speaking at the University of Minnesota for Spring Pride Week as a guest of the fACES group, which is in association with the Queer Student Union. I will be doing a one-hour discussion of queer inclusion for asexual, aromantic, and gray/demi folks, followed by a Q&A.
  • I am tentatively planning on attending the North American Asexuality Conference in Toronto in June of 2015. If I go, I will try to make some books available and be accessible for signing, and I'll likely do a workshop on handling detractors if I am able to go and welcome to do so.
  • Also unconfirmed, but I am making arrangements to be at the Lambda Awards on June 1.
  • Writing-wise, I've been very focused on finishing the sequel to Bad Fairy and writing/submitting more short stories (though no good news on that front yet). I am hoping to write a YA Contemporary novel with an asexual protagonist later this year. My two newest short stories are called "Everyone's Gay in Space" and "Aquarius." Both are science fiction.
  • I took a great birthday trip in January to celebrate with my friend Meghan. We rented a vacation house in Cape Coral and watched a lot of movies and did a lot of cooking/baking our favorite things.
