1. Project Participations, Funding News

1.1. Interregional Partnership "Virtual and Smart Cultural Tourism"

TMO is coordinating this interregional cooperation, selected for EU funding by the Smart Specialisation Platform (S3) action in the category "Sustainable and Digital Tourism". Seven regions (Thuringia/DE, Saxony/DE, Lower Austria/AT, Cyprus/CY, Paris/FR, Amsterdam/NL and Galicia/ES) are now cooperating to explore the possibilities of using Big Data of the Past, 4D simulations and other relevant tools to support virtual and smart cultural tourism to finally come up with concrete and adoptable business cases by the end of 2021.

1.2. Survey on experiences and demands in relation to digital tourism

Within the frame of the interregional partnership "Virtual and Smart Cultural Tourism" the team launched a survey aiming to gather stakeholder input for designing and implementing interregional structures and support mechanisms for successful innovations, scale-ups and commercialisation of business cases in the field of virtual and smart cultural tourism (= the application of digital technologies to learn, discover, experience and consume cultural attractions in a tourism destination)

1.3. Horizon Europe - first glimpses via leaked documents

The planning and fine tuning of the work programme of EC's large scale research and innovation funding framework "Horizon Europe" has been going on for a while now, aiming to be officially adopted and published in April 2021. But prior to this, a series of drafts for parts of the work programme were leaked and enable "some rather large clues as to what to expect from the first rounds of calls to be launched", according to  Science | Business journalists. 2. Local Time Machine Projects

The number of Time Machine related projects and research initiatives carried out by our TMO members is rising daily and is thereby slowly but steadily filling the Time Machine with life! 3. Upcoming Events

3.1. 6th Croatian ICARUS-Days, 25. - 26. March 2021

The 6th issue of the international conference organised by ICARUS Hrvatska starts today in online format, gathering 200 experts in around 70+ lectures dedicated to archives and digital heritage projects, initiatives and platforms, such as APEF, EGSAH, DARIAH, Creative Europe archival projects and many other up-to-date topics and issues.

There will be a whole bunch of presentations from members of our Time Machine network and from the TMO core team - so don't miss out on this opportunity to learn more about Local Time Machines etc.

4. Job Opportunities

Even though TMO itself cannot offer you any jobs at the moment, allow us nonetheless to forward you an interesting job offer in the Cultural Heritage / Digital Humanities sector:


TMO founding member, Cyprus University of Technology is offering one (1) full time Marie S. Curie Early Stage Researcher (ESR) Fellow Position in the newly established UNESCO Chair on Digital Cultural Heritage / Digital Heritage Research Lab in the research fields of Enrichment of 3D volumetric objects with Metadata and Semantics.
For a duration of three years, starting in June 2021, the fellow will work on the development of an advanced metadata and semantic model for integrating:
(1) Paradata of the acquisition technologies and historical and archaeological evidence of CH objects,
(2) the argumentation leading to virtual reconstruction and discussing alternatives with the object owners/ stakeholders,
(3) the connection of physical and social-historical, constructive, functional, aesthetic and environmental parameters, etc. with 3D/4D documentation of CH objects.
