In Today's Message...
Rector's Reflection

Dear friends,

Happy Ascension Day! This is the day we celebrate Jesus’ rising into heaven to take his seat at the right hand of God.

I think we take this for granted. After all, we know Jesus sent the Spirit (which we’ll celebrate on Pentecost) to be with us, so it’s felt like Jesus is with us all this time.

But imagine what it was like to see the physical resurrected body of Jesus rise up into heaven. Certainly for the disciples it was both a frightening and amazing event: frightening because they had never experienced anything like that, and amazing, because it confirmed Jesus’ identity and promise—that he abides with us always.

Many are finding this pandemic to be both frightening and amazing, for much the same reasons. We have never experienced this before, and as we turn to Jesus for help, we find his identity confirmed, as we discover he is walking us through.

Don’t forget to share where you are seeing the Spirit (Creator, redeemer and sancitifier) in your life this week!

Many blessings,

Rev. Meredith
