Notes from Shari

June is here and it seems like the weather won't make up its mind if it is Spring or Summer already.  We're enjoying lots of spring storms intermittent with days of 82 degrees and high humidity.  If this is late May and early June, what will August bring?  All that said, I'm enjoying everything from family gatherings to developing new classes.

This week’s Feature

Developing new classes is a true exploration with discovery, learning, and lots of play time.  Ideas for classes come from friends, the Internet, clients, and media outlets.  You will find me thumbing through magazines, watching videos, and surfing the Internet for inspiration.  A germ of an idea will fuel me for days to play with a new or old technique, new materials, new styles and colors, and more.

It is a process to choose which class will be added to the TFS offerings.   Trial and error on ideas, simplifying each step, time testing to fit a 2 hour class period, sourcing materials, analyzing how to use recycled materials in the class, costing out the materials and time to teach the class, preparing marketing materials, and more.  Sounds like a lot of work, right?  It is and I love it!  Each and every step.  Some more than others, of course, but the steps exercise both sides of my brain and allow me to be more balanced. During the process I'm also working with mentors to develop these ideas, which has led to my exploring more collaborative opportunities for classes.

With that in mind, my good friend, Theresa Maria Napa and I will be collaborating on a hands on workshop on July 12th in the Chicago area, "The Power of Overwhelm!! REALLY?!!"  Who hasn't felt overwhelmed, now or in the past?  Its power over our lives is incredible.  Come find out how to eliminate its power over you.  Theresa is an amazing coach who works with her clients to explore, dream, and discover the true path for their life and career.  This class is open to everyone and you can register here.  At the end of the class you will walk away with a handmade journal for success, and new tools to handle feelings of overwhelm in your life.

Check out the new class now available for autumn "Patterned Pumpkins."   New class offerings will be added
as they are ready.  Don't worry, I'll notify all of you!

Have a great June and start to your summer.
