Elm Springs friends and family,
I am praying for a safe and restful time for all of us this Labor Day weekend. I know many of you will be traveling and spending time with your families. If you are staying around town for the weekend, I hope you'll join us in the parking lot at 9am on Sunday as we continue our sermon series - A New Normal? - confronting the aftermath of change. When the storms of life come and wreck what we've known, nothing feels normal and everything is new! During these times we often go through the process of grief, acceptance, and growth. I believe that God can take these life events and create something beautiful as we live into something new. We will also be celebrating Holy Communion together. If you are unable to join us in the lot, please feel free to gather elements at your homes to take with us.

I am excited to begin something new this month! We will begin Bible Study on the Lawn this month.  Our study will be based on the book "Gospel Discipleship" by Rev. Dr. Michelle Morris of Arkansas. In it we will look at the discipleship "types" of each of the four gospels, and then see if we can figure out where we fit in as disciples of Jesus. See below under the Adult Ministries section for more information and how to register. Childcare will be provided.

Please reach out to me if you need anything, and know my prayers are with you. I'm thankful for each of you! God is faithful.

Grace and Peace,
Pastor Jennie

Help us decide!

Pastor Jennie will be leading an outdoor small group study in the coming weeks. The study is called Gospel Discipleship, and is based on a book written by one of our Arkansas pastors, Dr. Michelle Morris. Dr. Morris has taken a deep dive into the discipleship styles of our four gospel writers: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. This study will help us identify our congregational "type" and our personal/individual styles of discipleship. If you are interested in joining us, please click below to register and complete the survey (childcare will be available during the study).

The front flower beds of the church are in need of some TLC! We need a couple of volunteers to pull weeds and plant some seasonally appropriate flowers. This would be a great social distancing project for a family. Please call 479-248-1290 or email to help!

While the church campus is closed, the inside of the building needs some gentle cleaning/organizing and some easy jobs done. Again, this would be a great project for one family or for individuals to come in and work alone for an hour or so. Call 479-248-1290 or email for more info.

Hello Church Family!
We have so many yard sale donations that the storage container is full-to-burstin’! To help make more room, Elm Springs United Methodist Women will host a ONE DAY OUTSIDE SALE on Saturday, September 19, from 8 until 2. We will be selling “the big stuff” that is taking up so much room in the container – and maybe some small stuff too. You never know!  We would deeply appreciate some help in pulling items from the container. We will store the big stuff temporarily in the Fellowship Hall, and set them up outside on Friday, Sept. 18 and early Saturday, Sept. 19. Weather permitting. Please call Mary Zimmerman at 479-601-1398 or email for more information and to volunteer! Bless y’all!
