As many of you know we have two very special missionaries in the field from our church.  I can remember it wasn't all that long ago that we all prayed for them when they announced their calling to mission. Please take the time to read their update from Ethopia. You will find your heart swells with pride and privilege to know these two doing the Lord's work.

We're Back in Ethiopia 😎

After 2 cancelled flights and an unexpected 10 day layover in D.C. (shoutout to our clutch brother in Christ who let us crash at his place for said 10 days) we landed back home in the Horn of Africa! When we landed we went through a few layers of Covid testing security at the airport, then were able to make our way back to the house to begin our quarantine. Due to some unrest and political stuff going on, the internet was shut down so we couldn't celebrate in the moment with you all! But it's back up and we've wrapped up our quarantine! That means we're slowly getting out and trying to get a feel for what the
"new normal" is here. Our English school, along with all other schools here, is closed for now and will hopefully reopen this fall. So our old normal is definitely on pause.

It's Rainy Season

Since we've been back it has rained the majority of every day, and it's wonderful. Sure the muddy streets and scurrying from destination to destination isn't always fun, but it really is lovely. You can feel the land drinking deeply as her Creator provides for her in due season. It's a constant reminder of God's grace over all people, and of His personal care for Bailey and me as individuals. We just love the rain :)

Restarting Rhythms

We restarted learning Amharic today! We'll be back at it for 20 hours each week. Pray for some pliable brains so we can continue connecting deeply with our community here! We will also be seeing more of the friends that we made a few months back in the coming days. Pray for open doors.

Something that struck me as soon as we got back, and continues to weigh on me is the visible poverty of our area. #2020 has not been kind to the most vulnerable in our community, but we are praying that the Lord would allow us to comfort and show His prevailing kindness, goodness, and power. Pray for wisdom over this heavy and complex issue.

As we've quarantined together and are now looking ahead to future rhythms, our team has felt a lot of zeal to be fervent in prayer. We know that this is the primary means of our efficacy here.

Please pray with us:

  • Give thanks for the Lord making a way for us to return to the Horn
  • For unity of the Body in our city and among our coworkers
  • Pray for supernatural language and culture acquisition
  • For our every moment to be surrendered to Jesus
  • The rekindling of our relationships here
Thank you for standing with us through the bumpy last few months. We have been sustained and abundantly upheld by His grace through your prayer for us. Please send us a note with how we can be praying for you. Grace and peace,

"And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19
