Happy New Year, Elm Springs!
2020 is quietly turning into 2021, and I can't help but feel a sense of relief. I'm sure I'm not alone in that. I saw a post on Facebook today that said "I bet no one will put the wrong year on their checks this January!" I feel that! A new year gives us new hope - hope for an end in sight this pandemic, hope for some normalcy, or at least consistency. Hope for a time when we can see friends and family and not be nervous to hug or shake hands with them. And yet, a new year reminds us that a Christian's life is never without hope. Each day is an opportunity to make real and lasting change. Each moment is a chance to lean on the Foundation of our Faith, Jesus, who has never and will never change.
On Christmas Eve I encouraged us to ask ourselves where we've seen God in all this mess. No matter the highs or the lows of these last 365 days, God has always been present. Have we noticed? Have we said thank you? I invite you to join me in a moment of reflection. Let's thank God for the ways God has carried us through the year, and pray that God will continue to walk with us in 2021.
And He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new."
Thank you, God! Amen.
