If nothing else is evident in our lives right now, we can be confident that we should be a people of prayer - for our country, for our world, and especially for each other. But even though prayer is an essential part of discipleship, many of us struggle with it. What should I say? How often should I pray? What's the point of prayer? If you have ever asked yourself any of these questions, you're not alone. I don't have all the answers, but I do know the Answer. Jesus invites us into prayer, not so that we get all the answers to our questions, but so we know we have a Savior who walks with us through every valley of uncertainty and over every mountain of hope.

For the next 3 weeks leading up to Advent, we will be talking about the three essential prayers for Christians: Help. Thanks. Wow. These aren't elaborate or fancy prayers, but they strike at the heart of how we long to communicate with God. I've invited several from our community to share with us about what prayer means to them, and how it has deepened their relationship with Jesus. I invite each of you to reflect on those same questions. We will also share daily prayers on our website and on Facebook, so that we can all pray together during this time. I hope you'll join us this week as we look at the story of Jesus walking on water from the Gospel of Matthew. Let's imagine how prayer might actually change our lives, even if it's not the way we expect.

If you haven't had a chance to turn in your 2021 Commitment card, there's still time! Prayerfully consider how you can give with joy. Then fill out your card and mail it to the office or place it in the offering on Sunday during the services. You can also fill it out online here. I am so excited to map out the ministries God is calling each of us to!

I am praying for each of you,
Pastor Jennie
