Did you know?

Friday, June 3rd the PS9 PTO is hosting an author reading and dance extravaganza in the school auditorium. Author and PS9 parent Sari Wilson will read from the first chapter of her recently published novel Girl Through Glass, which tells the story of a NYC ballet dancer coming of age in the 1970s. Iris Wilson, PS9 dance teacher and singer, actor and author, will read from her children's book Boys Dance Too, which encourages boys to explore the diverse world of dance.  The PS9 Dance Troupe, a group of PS9 students trained by Ms. Wilson, will perform.

The event will be moderated by Mary Harris, a PS9 parent and the host and managing editor of Only Human on WNYC. The conversation will touch on topics such as writing about movement, growing up as dancers in New York City, and the role of arts in public education.

PS9 is partnering with Greenlight Bookstore for this event and copies of the authors' books will be available for purchase.

June 3, 6:30pm, PS9 Auditorium. $5 suggested donation at the door.

Garden Sale

Despite rain and cold, PS9 turned out to buy flowers and do Mother's Day crafts at the annual garden sale to benefit the PS9 Garden Education Program.

Fundraising Update

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Spring Fundraising Drive that shattered expectations by raising over $11,000 in just two weeks!  We are very close to meeting our overall goal for the year.  The PTO has been able to honor all of its commitments this year and then some.  Look out for announcements from the fundraising team, who will be selling merchandise over the next few weeks.  We still need someone to organize the sale and distribution of the tickets for the Brooklyn Cyclones event on Sunday, June 26.  If you have wanted to take on a small fundraiser, here is your chance!  Please contact Alicia Nosenzo (alilounos@me.com) with questions.

Bookmark our Amazon Link. We get 4% of the sale!
Please click anywhere in this box to donate to the PTO! All funds benefit arts education, enrichment programs and teacher support for our PS 9 students. To donate in person, please drop off a check made out to "PS 9 PTO" in the PTO mailbox in the main office.
