Dear Endor Supporters,
Starting Monday, February 16th, we will relocate to 285 Haywood Rd. in West Asheville. (Note: This date is likely, though not set in stone -- we may move as late as March 1st. But still, we’re on our way!)
We’re moving into (and helping start) Open Space Asheville, a multifaceted community center that will share space with the Asheville Makers, Tool Library, Shareable, Asheville B Local, entrepreneurs, co-working, and more. Endor will have some of our own space, but will likely share desks, a commercial kitchen, meeting rooms, and outdoor space with the other groups. Each group or individual at OSA will be working together as a community, and Endorians will have access to opportunities and support from others in the space.
Agile Learning Centers
We continue to be involved with the Agile Learning Center network. After some of our facilitators attend the Agile Learning Facilitator training this summer, we plan to make Endor an official Agile Learning Center in Fall 2015! We’ve already introduced many ALC practices at Endor for community governance, goal setting, and accountability.
We started last year with a bold statement that Endor would place no expectations on its participants. The community has since decided to establish expectations for participants. So far, participant-generated expectations include regular participation, that every participant has a project, keeping track of intentions and progress using project management tools, and more! The full list of participant expectations (as well as facilitator expectations) can be found here. These expectations are up for review at our monthly governance meetings, and enculturation is still tracked via weekly Community Mastery meetings.
We’ve now integrated almost all of our web systems with our nonprofit sponsor Agile SOLES (also a sponsor of the Agile Learning Centers and Asheville Open Space), so participants will receive their own @endorinitiative.com email address and agilelearningcenters.org website/blog domains. These blogs will help Endorians keep track of their work and how they spend their time, create shareable value for the rest of the ALC community, and act as a handy reference for portfolio building/transcript needs. Participants can set these up now, though they won’t be required use until we open our doors as an official ALC in the fall.
Our team has grown to three, and we’re actively seeking another facilitator so that we can have two facilitators present each day.
We’re expanding our hours! Once we move we'll be opening at 9:00am and closing at 3:00pm. Starting out, our set-the-schedule meeting will be at 9:30, so we’ll play with having thirty minutes of downtime each morning.
We’re working on putting together a new pricing structure to reflect the new space, facilitators, and hours. This will come into effect in March.
Thanks for being a part of this, everybody! Contact us with any questions.
