January News:

Mostly I draw inspiration from the time of transition: fall to winter. Change is stimulation and the energy is almost erotic. There is more color and line. Detail is available after the green of summer is gone."
Forrest Moses

Jan 22: While traveling, I learned that Forrest Moses had passed some hours earlier. I had the privilege of spending a lot of time with him and Wolf Kahn, who passed early last year. They were two of my mentors and touchstones as artists and I miss them. Talking to Forrest one day, I casually remarked that he and Wolf were two of the top 5 American landscape artists in the country. Forrest replied, "So who are the other three?" We both got a kick out of that.

Foremost, I wish to thank all of you that have purchased and supported my work all these years. I welcome the new friends and collectors and morn too many dear friends that recently passed. I am grateful for you all. Happily, it has been a remarkable year of change, progress and my best year financially.

Currently, a recently completed, 5 foot commission is being made ready for shipping and new projects are in progress. Also, it is exciting to be currently assisting numerous artists via my online mentoring sessions. It is truly a privilege to work with you all and to witness your changes and breakthroughs.

I am looking forward to more positive outcomes in the New Year and wish you abundant success and happiness as well.
Ken

Please note that private classes have begun in my new Castle Rock studios for one or two-person classes during these times and the online, 4-month Art Mentoring Sessions. CDC COVID guidelines will be followed. There are a limited number of dates available each month, so please join in soon. Feel free to contact me to begin a conversation about the possibilities.

American Art Collector Magazine:

"Elliott's canvases display the strikingly vivid modern hues in which he chooses to render his contemporary landscapes."

Southwest Art Magazine:
Although his paintings loosely reference photographs and plein-air sketches, they refuse to exist within the confines of already-prescribed images.

Rather, they stand independent of any specific place or time, the fulfilled pursuits of the artist’s visual and intellectual explorations.

Elliott wields color boldly, creating sizzling, vibrant shapes that are at once kinetic and placid, grounded in unifying illumination, and focused compositions.

He has a fascination with line structure as well, believing that “edges empower colors.”

Private Lessons and studio visits:
I have really enjoyed giving private lessons individually or with groups over the years. It is casual, focused and fun. It is always a pleasure welcoming collectors into my studio, please email me a call to arrange a time.

The workshops are very stimulating and you will see a big result in your approach to making fine art and clarity on your career strategies. Let's discuss what works best for you.
