Continuous Improvement Guide and Toolkit

  • Continuous Improvement Guide (CIG) and Toolkit has been updated! Major renovations based on school feedback.
  • Provides tools for teams to use while learning continuous improvement including guiding inquiry cycles that Central Network teams engage in alongside schools.
  • CIG now updated with examples of successful cycles of inquiry in OUSD. 
2016-17 edition can be accessed here.

Key Performance Indicators

SPF Draft Public Report

Why:

“Why should I wait until the race is over to know if I'm in the lead?”

  • Schools want support to monitor progress towards their goals to learn whether they are improving.

What:

  • District-sponsored school Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) will allow schools to monitor progress toward their goals using measures tightly linked to the SPF.

How:

  • School leaders will regularly receive KPI reports throughout the year and will have access to a KPI dashboard on ousddata.org.
  • First Weekly Engagement Report will be available by Tuesday, September 13!

Inquiry and Planning Tool

SPF Draft Public Report

Why:

  • Consistent, scaffolded experiences for principals, ILTs, and network teams to run successful Cycles of Inquiry in support of achieving priority goals.

What:

A Google Sheet that includes:

  • Site Plan Summary
  • Beginning of the Year Consultation
  • Cycles of Inquiry Note-taker
    • (one tab per cycle)
  • Guiding Questions
    • (for principals & network supts)

How:

  • Support Structure for ILT meetings
  • Facilitate bi-monthly ILT Learning Summits
  • Guide network superintendent dialogue with principals
Is the use of this tool required?
  • No, if the school has an equally effective way of documenting and communicating their data-driven inquiry cycles
  • Yes, if the school does not yet have an equally effective way of documenting and communicating their data-driven inquiry cycles

SPF Public Report Prototype

SPF Timeline Update: OUSD is in the process of producing 2016-17 SPF Public Reports Prototypes with data from the 2015-16 & 2014-15 school year.

  • Released internally at the end of September, for feedback on data accuracy before public release to follow after 2-3 weeks.
  • Focus is on transparency in building partnerships with parents around continuous school improvement.
  • Principals to receive an SPF Communications & Engagement Toolkit that will help prepare leaders to better understand the SPF results and communicate them.
  • SPF report package to include the technical version schools are familiar with, as well a new public version, a prototype of which can be seen above.

Upcoming Support and Tools

SPF and KPI Trainings and Coaching
Continuous School Improvement will offer trainings in Network Meetings and quarterly Data & ILT Summits as well as on-call assistance as needed.

SPF Guide 2.0
The SPF Guide has been updated thanks to your feedback! It will be released in October.

SPF Dashboard
An interactive online dashboard for your SPF results will be available when your report is ready.
SPF Website
OUSD's online support for SPF reports and support will be updated and streamlined into one location.




Site Planning Guide
We are developing a site planning guide to aid schools and School Site Councils in developing and aligning their site plans.

Look out for an online dashboard with your School KPIs to come out in October.
