Welcome to our last newsletter of the year. Lots of news to share with you, including details of our events, exciting news to share with two award recognitions and we are gearing up to our big tenth anniversary, when next September we are officially ten. The Oxford Children's Hospital is also ten years old in January, and we look forward to being part of their celebrations too as well as supporting their new £2m appeal to fund the building of a new family accommodation as well as joining in with helping Headway Oxfordshire's new appeal to fund the creation of the very first specialised neuro physio gym in the county.
From everyone involved with P2G, thank you so much for all your fab support over the years and to date, and we hope for your continued support.
From all the team at P2G, and we hope it's not too early now to say it, we wish you all a very merry peaceful Chrismas and a joyous, happy and healthy new year 2017.

Award Applause All Around
|
|
We were delighted to find out in October that we have been nominated within the OUH NHS Trust for their annual Staff Recognition Awards. Each year the Trust's annual awards is an opportunity for staff in the hospitals to nominate their colleagues, suppliers, supporters and partners in recognition of their hard work and outstanding dedication. Over 700 nominations were received.
We were nominated in 'Supporter of the Year' category and on November 23rd Andrew will attend an awards luncheon at the JR to receive a certificate on behalf of Play2Give - when our nominator will be revealed.
Further to this, we were thrilled to hear in November in a letter hand delivered to Andrew at the JR, that we have since been selected by the judging panel to the final 21 where we will be presented as a group with our award at the Oxford Town Hall.
Andrew, Dale, Teresa and Elaine look forward to attending the big bash at the Town Hall on December 7th when the big winners are revealed and we receive our award.
We were over the moon and chuffed to bethought of so highly by someone within the OUH Trust. We look forward to the event - and sharing the results in our next newsletter!

For a second year in a row we were delighted to be nominated and shortlisted in this year's Didcot Business & Community Awards (BACAs) which each year these prestigious awards the equivalent of Oscars of Didcot recognises and rewards excellence amongst local charities, community groups and businesses in and around the town.
We were delighted to be shortlisted in the 'Best Fundraising Award' category where we up against tough competition with a Secret Santa and Didcot Events.
We are delighted that the 2016 Winner of the Best Fundraising Innovation Award was... Didcot Events. A much deserved win for this new team who organises the spectacular annual Christmas Street Fair, a 3-day food festival, gift & craft festival to much else. for the benefit of the town.
This annual event is organised by Didcot First, and was another wonderful evening interspersed with entertainment and performances from local acts, this year including dancing from talented Didcot Sixth Formers and Blewbury Brass Band.

Marathon Duo Tackle Half Marathon Raising Super Sums
|
|
Sunday October 9th saw the sixth annual half marathon take place in Oxford with 7,500 runners pounding the city streets. We were pleased to have three supporters sign up to support us and we were thrilled two of them - Matty Hambridge and Matt Ponting - completed the gruelling 13.1-mile challenge, which started and finished in the city centre. We also had another lovely lady who was all raring to go. Sadly she fell ill a few days before but she still raised an impressive £140! Both Matty and Matt were inspired to run for P2G and in particular for the Children's Hospital. For both gents, it was their first time, however they both throughly enjoyed the challenge and have already promised they will run again next year and to raise funds for us. We would like to say a massive thank you to both of them. Between them both guys raised an amazing £540 towards our £40k goal for CHOX.
Matty - who ran with his wife Joanne - finished in 2hrs 40m, whilst Matt finished in 2hrs 13m.

Veronica, Julie and Andrew meet Mitchell who loved the new PS4's
|
|
Back in the summer, Andrew helped our Sainsbury's Didcot friends to raise money for two new PlayStations in response to an appeal after some PS3 controllers from the teenage ward of CHOX.
With the store, we teamed up and together raised an amazing £655.55 from a Stars Wars in-store raffle, the store cafe held a fun quiz & fish 'n' chips supper, and proceeds from the colleague awards party raffle for Play2Give back in May along with a generous £100 donation from one supporter all helped to purchase two brand new PS4s with 4 games which Veronica and Julie along with Andrew delivered to Melanie's Ward at the end of September.
During their visit, they met young Mitchell, who was Playstation mad and had just had major surgery as he suffers from a form of cerebral palsy. For all three it was an awe-inspiring visit and Mitchell can be seen above giving the trio the thumbs up.
A huge thank you to all the Sainsbury's Didcot kind-hearted customers and colleagues who got involved, donated money and supported this appeal which certainly brought a smile to Mitchell's face and will to so many others that uses the consoles.

Jennie & Sara Do Dry November
|
|
Jennie, left, and Sara, right, who run Performing Angels & Stars Stage School, are both going dry for November to help our 'Sleigh2Give' appeal. In going dry for November, in return they are being sponsored by receiving donations of 'Frozen' toys as donations to our Christmas Toy Appeal for CHOX. They are doing so well in their drinks detox and we are thrilled with their support in this way. Well done ladies, you are true sports! They are pictured with Olaf from the popular movie.
