£13,500 Smashed with Record Fundraising Year!
What a year.. That was 2015! It was the year that saw us smash new records all round - raising not just the most in our history for the children's hospital but a new record all round for 8 years of fundraising totals, with an amazing £13,532.05 achieved throughout the year!
We were delighted visit the Children's Hospital in January to present our gigantic £9,439.75 - which was raised through a wide range of events and initiatives last year including a year's partnership with Sainsbury's Didcot which saw lots of innovative and fun money-spinners, as well as our annual kids football tournament last July, teams in fun runs and Monster race, Oxfordshire Sports Awards 2014 and a superheroes themed spinathon!
In total we have now raised over £45,730 for local causes - with over £36,200 of this to the Children's Hospital edging us much closer to our £40,000 target to name Play2Give's own room on the teenage ward at the hospital.
With his army of thousands of fundraising friends and supporters since he began fundraising in 2003, Andrew has raised over £50,880 for the children's hospital - which all began at St Birinus School in Didcot as a 14-year old to now with the Play2Give team that is Dale, Teresa, Elaine and Craig.

The online petition set up by our own Andy Baker to help save Headway Oxfordshire from county council cuts, made both the headlines in the Oxford Mail in December, and also on the airwaves of ITV News Meridian in January. Journalist Kate came to interview both Andy and CEO of Headway, Jamie Miller, at the centre whilst filming tai-chi. Watch the report

Jamie Miller, CEO, receives our cheque from Andrew at Headway's annual Christmas party in December
|
|
In December Andrew was delighted to present Headway Oxfordshire - one of our main charities - with a cheque totalling £1,850 - the grand amount raised over 2 years through activities such as support through Sainsbury's Didcot and fundraising parties to more. The big cheque was presented in front of over 100 at Headway's annual Christmas party in December. We hope to raise lots more this year for this wonderful cause, which supports so many people like Andrew with brain injuries.

On December 23rd Lee Crook of Sainsbury's Didcot dressed as Santa whilst embarking on an epic 6-hour sponsored stroll through fields. Lee set off just after 6am after completing his nightshift.
Lee undertook the walk to raise funds for the Oxford Children's Hospital after supporting Play2Give in coming up with this festive feelgood campaign called Sleigh2Give.
After trapsing through the fields with a sack hurled over his book Lee arrived at the Children's Hospital just after 12pm to an Oxford Mail photographer and met his helper Elf, aka Andrew Baker, and together they with Santa Paul Tucker handed out donated gifts of presents from generous supporters (3 sackfuls in total) to children on the wards - many of whom recovering from brain surgery - but the good news is a lot of the children had left to go home in time for Christmas! We have plans to make Sleigh2Give and the toy appeal an annual campaign - and Lee and Andrew are already thinking up ideas for this year's festive campaign.
