Gentle Yoga for Newcomers

There are many thoughts that might dissuade us from stepping into a room full of folks practicing yoga. If you are new to this practice or would like to taste a gentle, slow and friendly practice, I encourage you to join me for five class sessions this January. You will be with others who are new to the practice. We will talk a little about this ancient practice called yoga and we will move our bodies in and out of basic movements that are chosen for their accessibility.
Yoga is primarily a practice of attention. As a teacher, I am most interested in creating offerings that allow you to direct your attention inward as you develop a kinder and more consistent relationship with your body, your breath, and your mind. The aim of this time spent in relationship with self is that we will see more clearly the truth of our deeper connection to life and to each other.
We explore yoga postures (asana) as a way to practice presence, steady attention, honesty and availability. The movement also increases our flexibility, strength and balance. You might feel lighter, calmer, more relaxed, happy, juicy, powerful, clear-minded and/or connected. It is a fascinating practice that I hope you will join me to explore. I would love to answer any questions or concerns you might have (particularly if they are creating resistance internally) via e-mail or phone. I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or 269-615-3003.
