PERSONAL NEWS UPDATE
from the Abrahamse family
    August 2019

Dear Friends

We hope that this finds you well!

This newsletter is our family news - its been a busy few months - so we are playing a bit of catch up!

Welcome Jamie ...

Our big family news is that Jamie came to live with us - his 'Forever Family' in July.  We have been on the adoption journey for a long time ... sensing for a number of years that this was something we were meant to do - but the timing never felt right.  Last year we felt the timing was right and after a long application process .... God miraculously placed a little 7 year old guy called Jamie in our family!  We had initially applied to adopt a baby - but through a number of circumstances, the Lord lead the agency to ask us to consider an older child - all part of HIS PLAN!  Jamie is adjusting so well.  He has been with us for 7 weeks now and feels like way longer!  He has been a star with EVERYTHING NEW!  He is loving school, loves riding his bike and walking on the beach and adores his big brother and sister. We are not allowed to post pics of him until the adoption process has gone through completely - which is a pity.  PLEASE pray for him as he continues to settle and as we find our NEW NORMAL as a family and that the Lord gives us energy and much wisdom as we parent 2 big kids and 1 little one!  Please also pray that the Lord provides the right school for him for Grade 1 next year.

We welcomed Jamie to our family!!

Jordz and Nate ....

It has been a busy few months for Jordz and Nate.  They loved ministering at our church holiday club in the June/July holidays.  It was a super busy week - so much fun with so many opportunities for growth.  We are so grateful for the youth ministry at our church and how they are so plugged in.  They will be going on a missions trip for a week in September - so please pray that this has a huge impact on them and those that they will be ministering to.  Jordan starts writing her prelim exams next week - she writes for 3 weeks.  After that, there is a short holiday and then she will write her final exams ... and then her schooling career is done!  Please pray that she has all she needs for this time - including good sleep and focus.  Please pray too, that the Lord guides her very clearly for the way forward for next year.  Nate is happy at school and takes life in his stride.  He is loving his surfing and longboarding!  He has just celebrated his 15th birthday!

John and Lorna ...

We are getting used to our 'new normal' with 3 kids instead of 2!  We are a little weary but the Lord has been so good!  John planned to travel very little this year because we knew that we were going to add another child to our family.  It has been SO great to have him home!  He traveled to Switzerland for a few days in May for Global Youth Initiative meetings, but other than that, he has been mostly home.  He has a busy schedule but working from home is a huge blessing.  Please pray that the Lord gives him much daily wisdom and discernment as he seeks to lead and come alongside our J-Life staff - providing direction and encouragement to them.   Pray too, that the Lord continues to give him capacity for training and coaching various individuals and groups of pastors.  Lorna is doing well. She is doing some J-Life work and spending a lot of time lifting and organising the lives of the 3 kids - its been quite a juggle - especially with school lifts and teenagers that are very social and involved in lots (for which we are very grateful).
