2002 ... (you can have a good laugh .... )
Our second year with J-Life ... and we thank the Lord for how He has grown our family and the ministry over the past 20 years!
We trust that you are keeping well during these interesting times that we are living in.
The last few months have flown and we are so grateful to the Lord in so many areas. While we are still waiting for the farm documents to be final, we felt it was the right time to move home, so we have moved closer to our church and the kids schools. The story of finding a family home that can be used for the Lord comes with many stories of the Lord's provision and plan. While Lorna has been on the look out for about 4 years for the right home, the Lord eventually brought it to us. We had 'housesat' the house twice before and then the owners actually approached us and asked us if we would like to purchase it. We moved in at the beginning of March and have been so happy. It has plenty of space with a great entertainment area for hosting and getting folks together. A HUGE BLESSING!
Jamie has been happy in Grade 2. He continues to be very social and loves being around people ALL the time. Nate is finding the work load in Grade 11 quite a bit more challenging than Grade 10. He is doing cross country at school which he is enjoying and is loving his involvement with the youth at church. Jordz is studying Social work through the University of Cape Town. All lectures are currently online. There was a huge fire on the mountain above the university a few weeks ago - which also destroyed a library and some other buildings. Varsity was suspended for a week but thankfully no one was harmed. She is enjoying her work at the church but is currently out of action a bit as she dislocated her knee/patella at a kids camp ... please pray that the Lord heals her fully and quickly as its so frustrating for her!
Covid continues to affect all of our lives and while we are grateful for good health - there are some frustrations for the kids with sport and church activities as well as for John with his international travels - not being able to get to friends and partner churches in the USA and unable to do visits to our team in other African countries. He is keeping busy with his roles in J-Life - he had a very positive week of zoom meetings at the end of April with the Leadership team and Regional leaders. It was great to have Dave Even travel from the USA to join face to face with those in Cape Town. Lorna is well and trying to maintain a balance with 3 kids in very different phases of life along with her various J-Life roles.
Thank you for your continued partnership with us and your interest in our lives as a family and for your prayer and financial support.
Please continue to pray for the work of J-Life all over the continent:
The continued emphasis on MAKING DISCIPLES! That the J-Life 2030 vision is daily owned and worked towards by all our regional directors, country leaders and field workers.
For J-Life summits taking place in various countries
Protection and provision for all of our regional directors, country leaders and field workers and their families during this tough time of Covid.
On a personal level - for daily wisdom, energy and capacity for us as parents. For Jordz, Nate and Jamie - that they would lean on the Lord daily and keep positive - especially in these times with a so much online work, lack of routine and where social interaction is limited - SO tough for teens in particular!
God bless and take care of you and please remember to let us know how we can pray for you. Whatsapp us at any time John: +27 84 7997007 Lorna: +27 84 4006133
