Steven Ross Smith was the founding Director of Sage Hill Writing Experience. His own writing practice embraces poetry, fiction, nonfiction and arts journalism. Over three decades he has crafted the innovative multi-book poetic series fluttertongue, now six books long. The seventh book is in progress. His work appears in print, audio and video in Canada, USA, and abroad. In 2005 his book fluttertongue 3: disarray won Book of the Year at the Saskatchewan Book Awards. Smith lives and writes on Galiano Island by the Salish Sea and amidst the Rocky Mountains where he is the current Banff Poet Laureate. Robert Kroetsch still inhabits his creative heart as a mentor and a friend.
