Black & White Photgraphy with JD Nolan
I'm a black and white film photographer. After exposing a piece of film in my 4 x 5 view camera I go into the darkroom and take the film out in total darkness and put it into my Jobo film processor. First, I soak it in water for 2 minutes. After that, it goes in developer, then in stop bath and then in fixer.
After it is dry I place the film in a film holder and then in my enlarger. I raise the enlarger head to 8 x10, 11 x 14 or 16 x 20 and expose the film onto a piece of photo paper with light. The paper is then placed in a tray of developer, then stop bath and then fix bath. The last stop is to place the photograph in a hypo clearing bath and then into selenium toner. This is done for archival purposes. A photograph that is properly processed should last for 100 years, however a selenium toning extends that to 400 years.
