Everybody to your corners!
Tuesday, November 10th Chock Full of State-Based Actions

MASSACHUETTS
HEARING ON BILL H.3690 — This legislation was sponsored by State Representative Garrett Bradley (D- Hingham) at the request of the Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company, LLC, a subsidiary of Kinder Morgan Energy Partners.  It is necessary to advance their proposed Connecticut Expansion Project (CT Expansion), as passage of this legislation would secure access and easements to state-owned, public conservation lands in Sandisfield. We want to urge the Committee to keep the bill from advancing!

There are three ways you can take action - do any one, or all three!
» Minimum Action - Click and send your objection

» Medium Action - Send in testimony in your own words

» Maximum Action:
Hit the road for Boston! Come to the rally and hearing
We're hearing about sizeable amounts of people attending. Join us and call your friends from across the state to come along! Substantial presence sends an message about the importance of this issue.

NEW YORK
Your presence is needed at Tuesday's RensCo Meeting

Once again it is important to show the Rensselaer County Legislature how determined we are to get a good Drinking Water Protection bill passed. We spoke passionately about this issue at the open forum last week. Click here to see Chelsea Zantay's comments.
This Tuesday, November 10th the County legislature will vote on a bill that will not adequately protect us from the effects of blasting. We need to show them that their constituents want them to pass a strong bill. Please come and invite your neighbors to join you. The address is 1600 7th Ave, Troy, NY 12180

Sign the Petition
If you are a Rensselaer County citizen, click here to sign the on-line petition asking the County Legislature to, "pass a law that provides the same level of protection to our residents as that provided to residents in Albany County."
Then pass it along to everyone else you know who lives in Rensselaer County.  Click here to download a hard copy to take to neighbors and have them sign.

VERMONT
Vernon, VT to weigh in on proposed natural gas plant near
Vermont Yankee site

PUBLIC MEETING - VERNON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
6:00 PM - NOVEMBER 10, 2015

VERNON, VT – Area residents soon will have a chance to weigh in on a proposed natural gas power plant that could be constructed near Vermont Yankee. A public meeting has been scheduled for Nov. 10 at Vernon Elementary School. The Vernon Planning Commission, which is hosting the session, will notify residents via flier of the meeting start time, which will be 6:00 p.m. Officials say a strong turnout at the meeting would help them determine where residents stand on the new industrial project. But they say residents shouldn’t expect detailed site plans for the gas plant, given that the project is still in the early stages.

Prepare to intervene in Northeast Energy Direct's application process

Kinder Morgan's intended date for filing its formal application with FERC is November 20, 2015. Within 10 days, FERC must decide whether the application can be accepted. Once it is and a new Docket number is assigned, this starts the period during which stakeholders may file a Motion to Intervene. You cannot file the Motion to Intervene until this period starts.

Although it's a fairly simple process for individuals, this date will fall during the busy holiday season. Municipalities should also be preparing to intervene, and this process may take longer, needing to clear possible committee decisions on wording, so
preparing and approving statements ahead of time is highly advisable.

Consider making a donation in
someone's name for the holidays.

With Kinder Morgan intending to file their formal application for the Northeast Energy Direct pipeline in a couple of weeks, we're just starting a new year (or possibly longer) of research and guidance to help keep everyone informed and participating in the fight. This requires substantial ongoing operating funds to keep us working at optimal effectiveness. Every contribution, large or small, helps!

No Fracked Gas in Mass is a program of Berkshire Environmental Action Team and donations made through our direct online Donation button or mailed in check are tax deductible!

Thanks to you, our movement STILL keeps growing!
