Tom Rush has been touring and performing for devoted audiences for decades. A native son of New Hampshire, Tom was born in Portsmouth. Emerging from the early Sixties Boston/Cambridge folk scene, Tom’s first album, Live at the Unicorn, was released in 1962. Tom’s 1966 album, Take a Little Walk With Me, is credited with helping to link folk to rock by including electric versions of cover songs by artists such as Bo Diddley, Buddy Holly and Chuck Berry. The Circle Game, which followed in 1968, was singled out by Rolling Stone as the record that ushered in the singer-songwriter era with its debut of songs by future stars Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, and Jackson Browne, and included Tom’s best known song, “No Regrets.” Albums that followed showcased, among others, seminal songwriters Bruce Cockburn, Guy Clark, Eric Kaz, and Richard Dean.

In 2009 Tom released his latest studio CD, What I Know, a musical quilt of original and carefully selected compositions. Produced in Nashville by Jim Rooney, What I Know contains five Rush originals, as well as Tom’s take on the folks standard “Casey Jones,” featuring guest vocalist Nanci Griffith, and nine lesser known covers that have become instant friends, including a reflective take on Mentor Williams’ “Drift Away,” a hit for Dobie Gray, Rod Stewart and uncountable others.

The concert is organized by NHPLAN (New Hampshire Pipeline Awareness Network) and is an effort to raise funds to defend seventeen New Hampshire towns and scores of other towns in New England who have voted overwhelmingly to oppose the proposed Northeast Energy Direct (NED) pipeline.  Learn more about NHPLAN by going to our web site: www.nhpipelineawareness.org

More on Otis State Park and Rep. Bradley ...

MA State Senator Ben Downing takes fellow Legislators on a tour of the protected lands in Otis State Forest that would be surrendered if Rep. Bradley's legislation were to pass.

In the meantime, Rep. Bradley faces ire on his home turf.

Cohasset: Residents Oppose Rep. Bradley’s Pipeline Bill

A group of Cohasset residents is piping up after their local state representative made a move they consider out of bounds.

Garrett Bradley, whose district includes Cohasset, Hingham, Hull and Scituate, filed a bill last month that would construct a 13-mile natural gas pipeline expansion through conservation land in western Massachusetts.

Bradley said he filed the bill on behalf of Kinder-Morgan subsidiary Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. to grant an Article 97 easement through two miles of state forest in Sandisfield, which is in Berkshire County.

Paul Kearney, a Cohasset resident and business owner, said he and other residents who signed a letter to the Board of Selectmen, take issue with the fact that Bradley filed this bill that affects an area so far outside his district.  ”We’re asking the town of Cohasset to send over an apology letter from the families here in Cohasset [saying] that Garrett Bradley does not reflect our intent to build a gasline or pipeline 150 miles away from us, just like we wouldn’t want them to go into our community with our pristine waters and infringe their problems on us.
