WACE 2014!!!

Can you believe it WACE is just around the corner?  With registration numbers at its highest since 1999, we could not be more excited to see this wonderful organization come together for fun, professional growth, and relaxation.  The committee chairs have worked diligently to ensure there are quality programs (schedule can be found on the WACE webpage), keynote speakers that will leave you energized and connections with vendors to propel your program!

Take a moment to review some friendly conference reminders and tips.  Most importantly get prepared to invest in a few days of great professional connections, development, and rejuvenation.  We look forward to seeing all of you there.

Proposed By-Laws Changes

Over the past few years, WACUHO has been undergoing some change. Some of the most significant of these changes have included better defining of our Technology Coordinator positions and the shift for the Newsletter Editor position to the Marketing and Communications Coordinator. For these changes to become permanent, they need to be reflected in our By-Laws. Because of this, several changes to our By-Laws are being proposed.

These positional changes require quite a few adjustments to the By-Laws. Due to this, the By-Laws and Executive Committees decided to take a deeper look at the By-Laws. While we did not do a complete overhaul, we did determine some sections that could use clarity. We also noted a few places that did not match up with our current practice. Click here for more

FROM EXHIBITS

The Exhibits Committee is very excited to offer a great Exhibits Show for all conference attendees to enjoy on Tuesday April 8th 9:00am to 12:30pm.We have a phenomenal group of Exhibitors joining us this year—willing and able to share innovations and new ideas with regard to products and services that enhance the on campus housing experience for our residents.   Make sure to spend time in both the Exhibit’s Foyer & Ballroom to either create or rekindle existing relationships.

As WACE 2014 approaches the Exhibits Committee also wants to encourage all conference attendees to think about attending the Exhibitors in the round or EITR. EITR consists of one round-table discussion that will take place on April 7thduring Program Session two. In the past we have hosted two EITR sessions, but due to an increased number of facility-focused program submissions from our membership institutions we are hosting just one. Click here for more

FROM PROGRAMS

The Annual Conference Programs Committee is proud to report that we received 75 program submissions from the membership of WACUHO for WACE 2014. Of those 75 programs, 45 were selected to be showcased at WACE 2014. Our committee selected programs based on a rubric that spoke to our goals for the conference program this year and programs were reviewed without knowing presenter identity or institution.

This year it was our hope to garner program submissions from all areas of the profession of student housing: business services, facilities, and residential life. Our theme, SS WACE: Moving Forward Together, symbolizes the desire to promote collaboration and understanding between our units and innovative forward thinking for the future of our profession.

Our full program slate, which can now be viewed on line, for your curiosity and for your conference planning purposes, is a strong indicator that our membership, all of you, heard our call and answered loudly and clearly. Click here for more

Article by our Platinum Partner - WASH

The first days of college are exciting for students, but can be overwhelming as they learn for the first time how to take care of day-to-day chores independently.  Doing laundry isn’t “rocket science,” but surprisingly many college students leave home without knowing the basics of how to do laundry.  Fortunately, WASH Multifamily Laundry Systems can make the transition easier for students by teaching them the “ABC’s” of laundry and providing technology that makes doing laundry more efficient, all while maintaining student laundry rooms that operate with a reduced environmental footprint.
