It's Time for EYE!

This year’s Episcopal Youth Event will be held in Oklahoma City. It is open to high school aged youth ranging from incoming 9th graders to exiting 12th graders.

The 2017 Episcopal Youth Event (EYE17) will focus on the theme Path to Peace, based on Matthew 5:1-12.Path to Peace as a theme was developed by the EYE17 Mission Planning Team who discerned a call to focus on peacemaking and the ways each member of the Jesus Movement can pursue a path to peace.

The estimated cost is $1,000. This cost includes EYE registration fees, airfare, meals and lodging. The cost for approved applicants would be divided into thirds with one third payable by the student, one third by their parish and the final third coming from The Episcopal Diocese of San Diego. Fundraising opportunities will be available for both youth and their parishes.

Pre-Registration is NOW OPEN! At this time, all you need to do is pay a $50 deposit and email in your application form. Pre-registration will close on Monday, January 9 at 5 p.m. Registration and applications will not be accepted after this time.

The EYE selection committee will review applications and notify youth via email of their selection for the trip on Friday, January 13, 2017. With only 24 spots available for the trip, it is possible that not everyone that applies will be selected. We will be using the applications to determine youth who will most benefit from the trip, and represents as broad a section of our diocese as possible. Youth who are not selected will be refunded their application fee.

A couple of important notes:

*EYE takes place every three years. That means, if you are an upperclassman, this will be your only opportunity to go. Please don't let this opportunity pass you by!

*This global gathering of Episcopal Youth offers the opportunity to connect with other youth from your faith tradition. Find out the ways that we are similar and celebrate our differences!

*The Presiding Bishop attended the last EYE. That means, you might have the opportunity to meet Presiding Bishop Michael Curry. Check out his AWESOME sermon from the last EYE in one of the links below!

*Registration is being held through the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego website. Please follow the link below to pay your pre-registration fee, and download your application.

Any questions regarding this program should be directed to Charlette Preslar. .

So what is EYE???

EYE - The Episcopal Youth Event - has been being held since 1982. Every three years, thousands of Episcopal youth from all over the country come together to celebrate, worship, learn, and become leaders. The experience is diverse with workshops on peace making, music, service, diversity, and much, much more.

But this isn't a dull workshop experience. This is a lightning rod. Just like a lightning rod channels the electricity of lightning safely into the earth, EYE channels faith, hope, energy, and the electricity of their faith into the youth who attend.

Pathway to Peace

This year''s theme for EYE is Pathway to Peace based on Matthew 5:1-12. Both exciting and challenging, the Beatitudes push us to be our best selves. During this EYE we will be challenged to focus on both the internal and external ways that we can become a "Path to Peace".
