Harvest Supper, Friday October 4th

Come and join us in the Village Hall for a celebration of the Harvest at the annual supper on Friday October 4th.The auction is assembled from generous donations: vegetables, fruit and plants, jams, pickles, chutneys, liqueurs (sloe gin is popular) and baking, both savoury and sweet.   Most produce is home-made, no air miles, and the bidding is fierce for these and the other non-edible donations.

These can be given to Enid 331031 or Barry 331419 beforehand or brought on the night.

Charity Bridge Afternoon, Thursday 10th October

There are still a few places left at this event which is an important fundraiser for the village hall. The cost is just £10 per head, £40 per table. The date is Thursday 10th October 2019, with play starting at 1:30pm and the price includes afternoon tea. Full details can be found HERE. Contact Ian McNeill (ian@mcneill.org.uk, 01423 339061) for bookings).

This year’s 5k/10k run will be held on 27th October. Click on the link for a larger view of the details and to download an entry form from the village website.

Organiser Jill Watkins-Wright is looking for some help with marshalling on the day. Can you help? If so, please meet at village hall 10am Saturday 26th for instructions.

Village Bonfire, 2nd November

The annual village bonfire with spectacular & professional fireworks will be behind the village hall on Saturday 2nd November. It’s said that this is one of the best displays in the district. Everyone’s welcome and it’s free, if you want it to be. The bonfire will be lit at 6.40 with fireworks at 7.00pm prompt. As always it will be a highly professional display.

Food will be available from 6.00pm – before and after the fireworks – as good as always (and cheap) – hot pot, hot dogs, baked potatoes, parkin, toffee apples and loads of other good things. The bar will be open from 6.00pm too.

We raise most of the money for this from a house-to-house collection. We’ll be visiting every house in the village during the 2 weeks before bonfire night – Please give generously. You can also give on the night.

It takes a considerable amount of hard work by many people to make this happen – collecting, building & clearing the fire, preparing and selling the food. It’s fun and very much appreciated by the community. If you’d like to help in any way, please contact Rick on 331477 or Steve and Dee on 330639.
