UPWARD Must Turn Away Families

February 20, 2015
In a little more than 120 days, UPWARD will break ground on its new campus, and it can't happen soon enough.
"Unfortunately, as of this week, UPWARD exceeded its capacity in our special needs preschool," said Doug Carter, UPWARD CEO. "We agreed to accept one more student, putting us one over capacity. We must now turn away referrals from school districts."
In addition, UPWARD enrolled another young adult in the Day Treatment and Training program this week, filling that program to capacity. UPWARD's two other programs, K-12 Special Education is at 87 percent capacity and its Child Care program is at 95 percent capacity.

To fulfill its long-term commitment to its students, their families and to our community, plans are underway to expand its programs and enhance its campus. To achieve this, UPWARD has launched the $5.325 million Lifting Children Upward campaign to add 20,000 square feet of new construction to the existing 2.2-acre campus, bringing the total facility size to 26,000 square feet.
Planned groundbreaking -- July, 2015
