UPWARD for children and families

UPWARD Launches Pilot Respite Program for Families

UPWARD launched a Saturday morning Pilot Respite Program for Families on March 3rd from 9 AM to noon, giving families an opportunity to drop their child/young adult off at UPWARD for a morning of music, fun and therapeutic activities. We have continued the program the first Saturday of each month through May. Families have had the opportunity to run errands, go to a movie or just enjoy some alone time!

UPWARD Receives 4 Star Rating From Quality First!

The UPWARD child care staff has been working diligently the past year in preparation for the Quality First Assessment which took place in April. Quality First assessors observed in classrooms, reviewed lesson plans, student portfolios, and much more over a three week period. We were informed in April that we earned the 4 Star Rating, which means we Exceed Expectations! We will be receiving scholarships for parents beginning in July due to this rating, as well as funding for child care supplies. Sharon Graham, Vice President of Programs said, “I am so proud of our child care staff! They worked very hard to achieve this rating!”

Upward Expands Child Care Program

UPWARD separated the toddlers and preschoolers into two classrooms in January 2018, allowing us to serve up to twelve additional children ages 1-5. We are at 90% capacity in our infant room, 100% capacity in our toddler room and 65% capacity in our preschool room. Teachers are better able to focus on age appropriate activities with their children with the separation of the age groups.
