Outsider Art Comes to LA!

Just Folk and Peter Fetterman Gallery
are pleased to announce the next chapter in their gallery-sharing venture.
Broaden Your Vision: Outsider Art 101
Opening June 14th through September 3rd
Just Folk will be showing a collection of Self-Taught Art
at Peter Fetterman Gallery at Bergamot Station, Santa Monica, CA
This will be the first public exhibition and sale of important Outsider Art in Los Angeles. Many museums and galleries throughout the country have mounted shows and seminars on artists who are isolated from the mainstream and unexposed to the art world, yet exhibit enormous instinctive talent.  Their art has been classified as Visionary, Primitive, Vernacular, Self-Taught, Spontaneous, Folk, Raw, Art Brut, and Outsider, but there is no school, movement, or aesthetic criteria that defines this art.

Broaden Your Vision:
Outsider Art 101
will include works from Bill Traylor, Thornton Dial, William Hawkins, Martin Ramirez, James Castle, Sam Doyle, Joseph Yoakum, Ronald Lockett and Adolf Wolfli. Biographical material on each artist will be displayed along with books and articles published about Outsider Art.

Just Folk's aim is to spark interest and curiosity about Self-Taught Art and to “Broaden Your Vision” of what constitutes art. Will Outsider Art be integrated into Contemporary Art once it is no longer outside the boundries of “insider” art?
Collectors and scholars will tell us, once this art is exposed to a larger public.
