WELCOME TO OUR LATEST DIGINEWS

As we recover from our jam-packed flagship digital storytelling conference The Social Media Exchange  #SMEX17 we look ahead to the rest of our year. Thank you to everyone who made the day such a triumph, we couldn't have done it without our incredible speakers, lunchbite facilitators, helpers and enthusiastic delegates. We'd also like to say a huge thank you to our event supporters the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Joseph Rowntree Foundation, Lankelly Chase, the LEF, Charity Bank and Nominet Trust, without your bursary support so many organisations would not have had the opportunity to attend.

SMEX isn't just about the learning on the day it's about the time ahead, and how the insights and new skills gained are put into practice. Thank you to all those who have shared their blogs, photos and visuals created on and beyond the day and if you want to share how SMEX17 has influenced your work already do get in touch.

In need of storytelling support? Contact us to find out how we can help you amplify your organisations impact and reach to reach supporters, donors and volunteers then contact us to find out how. Keep reading to find out about our end of financial year training offer.

#SMEX17 The Power of Our Stories
On Monday 6th February we brought together 190 changemakers from charities, museums, social organisations and the media for a creative and interactive day of digital storytelling masterclasses and inspirational talks.

It was an incredible day full of shared learning, connections and it seems everyone left buzzing with enthusiasm after our exciting keynote speaker Lemn Sissay MBE. Take a look at our highlights here gathered on Storify, and here are some of the photos capturing the day
BEING THE STORY

Mandy Thomas- Telling my story to help others share theirs
We're looking ahead to Being the Story, our TEDTALKs-style storytelling event launched in 2016. Being the Story provides a platform to individuals with extraordinary stories to share experiences that would often go unheard. A powerful story can raise awareness, change perceptions and gain support for your cause.

Please contact us to discuss how you or your organisation can be involved and support Being the Story to put a spotlight on your topic.  We hope to share some news about an evening event shortly so watch this space.

Subscribe to our Being the Story YouTube channel to view all our powerful talks and be the first to hear about new videos.
ON OUR RADAR
The F Word
Our friends at the Forgiveness Project have curated their latest thought-provoking exhibition around journeys of meaning and hope. The F Word will take place at the Oxo Tower Gallery this March. The exhibition will be accompanied by a series of talks, conversations and storytelling events. Find out more here.
Desert Island Discs: Nigel Owens
Radio 4's Desert Island Discs creates a great platform for a diverse range of individuals to share their stories, and favourite songs. Last week Rugby Union referee Nigel Owens joined Kirsty to share his experiences coming to terms with his sexuality and the impact that this had on his mental health. It is well worth a listen
Cancer Research UK Smart Bench
Smart Benches are an interesting new scheme being piloted by Cancer Research UK to encourage more people to donate. The smart benches currently found in the London boroughs of Lewisham and Islington have charging stations, wifi ports and enable contactless donations of £2.
