Park City, Utah (July 2, 2015) – Artist, inventor and tech pioneer Hal Prewitt has emerged as the top American competitor in the 2015 International Endurance Series, the auto racing championship contested throughout Europe and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Out of 533 drivers, Prewitt is in the top 10 overall in series championship points.
“I feel so fortunate to be in the position and I’m grateful to everyone on our teams and all the supporters who helped get us to this point,” Prewitt said. “It’s been a phenomenal season so far. Our current place in the standings is so gratifying. It’s proof that the team’s ambitious approach is working. We still have a lot of work to do with the rest of the summer season still ahead, but we’re ready.”
Prewitt will be in Le Castellet, France, July 10 through July 12, 2015, to race in the next event of the series, 24 Hours of Circuit Paul Ricard.
In a professional driving career that has spanned 194 races, Prewitt, who has residences both in Park City, Utah, and Miami Beach, Florida, has earned 73 first-place finishes and 113 total podiums.
It has been an incredible year for Prewitt, who is in the midst of the best season of his motorsports career.
Most recently, he co-drove a Lotus Evora GT4 to an SP3-class victory in the 12 Hours of Zandvoort race in Holland, May 29 - 30. He and his team, Cor Euser Racing, outraced an Aston Martin and a Porsche in that event to earn the top spot.
Prewitt and his teammates began the International Endurance Series season in winning fashion, taking top honors in the A5 class in the 24 Hours of Dubai last January.
This year has seen Prewitt dominate standout events outside the International Endurance Series, too. In April, he finished third overall and second in class in the Britcar 24 hours at Silverstone, England. Driving a BMW in front of more than 300,000 fans, Prewitt and his teammates also finished fourth in class in the grueling 24 Hours of Nürburgring race in Germany.
Prewitt set the tone for 2015’s successful season to date last December, setting a World Record with a Touring Class victory and third-place overall finish in the Maxi Endurance 32-hour race, the longest sports car race in the world that was held in Portugal.
Prewitt, an esteemed photographer, is also opening a new gallery in Park City, Utah this year.
