U.S. Race Car Driver Hal Prewitt Continues Full Season of International Competition This Weekend in the ENEOS 1000km Race in Lithuania

Fine-Art Photographer and Tech Pioneer Brings Lithuanian-American Pride to Palanga In Pursuit Of a Symbolic “Home” Victory

PALANGA, Lithuania (July 16, 2015) – Just days after a hard-earned second-place finish in last weekend’s 24 Hours of Circuit Paul Ricard, artist and accomplished American race car driver, Hal Prewitt, will be looking for  a symbolic “home” victory in Saturday’s ENEOS 1000km Race in Palanga, Lithuania.

Prewitt, the top ranked American in this year’s International Endurance Series, is of Lithuanian descent. His debut in the established ENEOS 1000km Race at Palanga comes with a strong dose of both American and Lithuanian pride.

"I am half Lithuanian from my Mother's side,” Prewitt said. “Mom, a great supporter, and my Grandmother fondly spoke of our family ancestry. To be able to race here is a great honor as an American coming from a place with few people of Lithuanian descent.”

The ENEOS 1000km Race at Palanga is being run for the 16th time and is the biggest and most prestigious motorsports event in the Baltic countries.

Prewitt will co-drive a Cor Euser Racing Drink Florida Orange Juice BMW 120D with fellow American teammate, Jim Briody, and German driver Dirk Schulz at Palanga.

Palanga follows the finish of Sunday’s 24-hour race at Paul Ricard in France where Prewitt and Briody were among the co-drivers of the No. 83 Cor Euser Racing BMW M3. Despite a string of issues throughout the day-long race, Prewitt and his teammates finished in second in the A5 class.

The finish moved Prewitt up in the season point standings of the International Endurance Series (IES) in which he is now ranked eighth out of 647 drivers.

Although the 1000km Palanga race is not part of the IES, a strong result on Saturday will keep Prewitt’s 2015 momentum rolling. He is currently in the midst of the most successful season of his racing career.

In addition to the Paul Ricard podium, Prewitt co-drove the Cor Euser Racing Lotus Evora GT4 to the SP3-class victory in the IES 12 Hours of Zandvoort in Holland, May 29 – 30.

Prewitt and his teammates also began the IES season in winning style, taking class honors in the A5 division in January’s 24 Hours of Dubai.

Prewitt continued his success this year in races that are not part of the IES, but stand-out events in their own right, such as Palanga. He finished third overall and second in class in a race on the Grand Prix circuit in Silverstone, England, in April. In May, he and his teammates finished fourth in class in the 24 Hours of Nurburgring in Germany.

Prewitt also laid the foundation for 2015’s successful season to date with a Touring Class victory and third-place overall finish in December in the Maxiendurance 32-hour race, the longest sports car race in the world, which is held in Portugal.

The ENEOS 1000km Race at Palanga began with a practice session today with more practice and qualifying scheduled for Friday. Race-day Saturday calls for a 12 p.m. local time start for the ENEOS 1000km Race.

Noteworthy
- In addition to being a race car driver, inventor and technical pioneer, Prewitt is also an esteemed photographer. He is opening a new gallery in Park City, Utah later this year and always takes time to hone his fine-art photographic skills while racing around the world. The photograph below was taken by Prewitt earlier this week at the Palanga Pier over the Baltic Sea.

About Hal Prewitt
At just 14, Hal Prewitt obtained a junked car, rebuilt it and taught himself to drive. As a teen he began autocross racing, flying planes, painting, building electronics and programming. The combination would lead to a high-flying career in computer software and hardware, race car driving and, eventually, photography. He was 38 in 1992, when he sold his tech company to Sony and turned his full attention to parenting his two young sons. Later he pursued and became a successful international race car driver. A former elected official and an enthusiastic participant on several government, for profit and non-profit boards, Prewitt is at the top of his game in racing. He also manages investments, photographs, grows oranges and operates Prewitt Enterprises, LLC in Florida and Utah.

About Hal Prewitt Photography
Traveling the world on photo projects, business missions and attending races lets Prewitt explore amazing locations and capture a wide array of magical moments. Soon, his new gallery in Park City, Utah, will display many of his majestic wildlife and landscape images which have become collectors’ items. “Capturing a great scene is not unlike winning a race,” Prewitt said. “When it all comes together at that ideal spot and special moment, it’s that unique experience like winning each race, a moment that will never be repeated.”
