JOY Home Tour brings in record $110,000!

Thanks to you, dear friends, this years 15th Anniversary JOY Home Tour was a record breaker - raising $110,000!

This translates to almost 15% of the HOPE House expenses in one year! As a 100% community funded charity this is huge.
To give you some context on how much impact you have created I wanted to let you know that $110,000 provides:

  • 1,200 fully stocked backpacks to children in need within our community; and
  • 100 families a week with fresh produce for a year; and
  • 100 people with a hot weekly breakfast for a year; and
  • 360 families with a Christmas hamper; and
  • 100,000 cups of hot coffee.

To be honest it is a little overwhelming. So thank you for attending and taking in the beautiful results of the community effort and dedication that went into decorating this year's amazing homes! You are so appreciated.

HOPE for the Holidays is right around the corner!

We believe that each person deserves a holiday filled with HOPE. That’s why, at HOPE House, we aim to not only provide Christmas Hampers to those families in need, but also a delicious Christmas brunch and an affordable Christmas market to create new holiday traditions with our community.

It's already December and we are gearing up for the Holidays!

Our Christmas Hampers are a volunteer favourite
and pick up opportunities are available over a two hour time frame
(5:30 pm - 6:30 pm, 6:30 - 7:30 pm) on Thursday, December 12.

The pick up point is at Lakeside Central Church
7654 Conservation Rd, Guelph, ON N1H 6J1.

You'll be asked to deliver approximately 5 hampers within reasonable proximity to each other to families in need in Guelph.

The Affordable Gift Market, now in it's third year due to resounding feedback, allows community members to purchase new goods such as toys, books, clothing and jewelry for a very reasonable cost through a pay-what-you-can Christmas market. In this way HOPE House ensures a dignified exchange of goods by offering a hand up, not a hand out.

Community member and volunteer, Martha, enjoyed the market with her children, “The holiday pay-what-you-can market allowed my children to have lovely gifts for their siblings and grandparents,” she shared.

Martha was happy with all of the choices at the market as it gave her children the opportunity and independence to make their own reasonable decisions.

Paul reminisces about the treasured and unique gifts that he got. “A lot of love was given and received,” he recalls.
Our festive Christmas Brunch, prepared and served by volunteers, offered unique and delicious dishes including gingerbread oatmeal, a variety of quiches, hashbrown casserole, fruit salad, eggnog french toast and bacon. The menu is sure to be just as incredible this year!

If you're looking for an opportunity to give back this holiday season, consider making a donation towards the HOPE for the Holidays programs. Together, we can ensure that everyone has a holiday to remember!
