Here at Spring we are passionate about exercise and strength training for acute through to chronic injury management and overall wellbeing.  We have recently added some great new equipment in our gym space with a full squat rack and some agility training tools to challenge your neuromuscular system and brain at the same time.  Strength training is great for all.

Girls Footy Pre-season Strength Training

Richmond Tigers are still basking in their glory and we are already talking about footy pre-season!

Now is the time to build up strength and resilience and improve your basic movement patterns in order to hit pre-season training in the best shape possible and lessen the risk of injury. The rate of girls participation in footy has dramatically increased but so has the rate of injuries. ACL injuries in the AFLW were 6 x greater than the men’s program, so there is an essential need to address the underlying biomechanics and strength deficits that may be contributing to this discrepancy between genders.

Strength and Conditioning Program Design

Can’t commit to a regular class each week? Kate Dyball is adding another Masters qualification to her already impressive CV, as an experienced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist. Complimenting her coaching qualifications in Weightlifting and Rowing, with a Masters in Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning).

Kate is now seeing clients on a Wednesday afternoon at Spring Physio Gym.  She will conduct a thorough assessment of your current status including posture, injury history, strength and endurance, alongside a discussion of your goals. She will then develop an individualised plan to address any deficits and help you achieve those goals. The program will be taught and supervised until you are confident with the exercises, allowing you to perform the program independently with periodic reviews for progression.

Rowing Coaches Screening Education Program

We have been offering an Education night aimed at School Rowing Program coaches. We teach them how to empower and monitor their rowers to take ownership and responsibility for their flexibility and the movement patterns required for good technique and injury prevention. The program is based on Rowing Australia’s guidelines and flexibility benchmarks. Rowing coaches will leave knowing how to measure, record and implement an internal Screening program for all rowers. Please call if you are interested in further information.
