Dear Colleagues,
I hope this finds you well and enjoying your fall quarters/semesters! The NOA leadership team has been hard at work this fall planning our January Conference in St. Augustine. Jess Munoz has done a great job with the schedule, and please see his column for all the exacts. The Executive Board has adopted a COVID Protocols policy to promote a safe environment for all attendees, which is also posted on the conference registration page. Rest assured, we will keep monitoring the situation nationally and in Florida, and adjust these accordingly.
One announcement, NOA has just launched a Jobs Listing Service online! Special thanks to Kirk Severtson for making this happen. If you are interested in posting a professional or academic position, please login to the Member Portal and get started.
There are so many deadlines approaching! Vocal Competition, Opera Scenes Competition, as well as many opportunities for students in January. See Jess's column for all the direct links!!
I look forward to seeing you in January! And please note that all first time Conference attendees will receive a $50 discount off a full registration, so I encourage you all to invite a friend and colleague to attend and join NOA!!
One of my favorite aspects of being involved in Opera is the opportunity for collaboration. This unique art form brings together composers (living and those passed on), designers, techs, choreographers, performers, players, conductors, promoters, coaches, costumers, …the list goes on. Whether at a university, professional company or as a freelance director, many of us are the point person who pulls all of these people and elements together for a cohesive production. It is exciting and often daunting! As I currently sit at my desk, I’m surrounded by opera scores and emails and phone calls needing to be answered or sent. It is a flurry of OPERA! What a challenging and wonderful life!
I am drawn to National Opera Association because it brings us together. This organization provides inspiration, resources, opportunities, and community for all of us! The wheels are turning at full force right now moving toward our upcoming national conference. Be sure you are there and bring folks with you! We need each other now more than ever!

Greetings!
The NOA Board of Directors continues to actively prepare for the 67th National Conference, Exploration and Discovery, taking place January 5-8, 2022 in St. Augustine! I encourage you to view our conference schedule, listing the variety and scope of our thought-provoking sessions. Our behind-the-scenes team looks forward to bringing you their timely and valuable presentations.
At this time, I welcome you to encourage your colleagues and students to consider submitting to any of the following conference opportunities now accepting submissions through October 15th :
With our January conference in sunny Florida, golf, swimming and walkways of lush greenery are just a few of the many added bonuses. We’re also planning an evening excursion to take in St. Augustine’s annual “Nights of Lights,” where shopping, dining and trolley rides are illuminated by some three million lights dazzling the bayfront. Start making plans to join us for this historic event! As always, should you have any questions or ideas, feel free to contact me or any members of our board. We’re always here to help.

Happy Fall!
I am looking forward to seeing many of you at our National Conference!
This will be the perfect place to discuss plans for new Regional Events. The Regional Luncheon is open to all participants, and I encourage you to attend and get to know colleagues in your Region.
I also encourage neighboring Regions to consider teaming up for workshops or meetings both online and face to face. Do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or ideas about future events.

Dear Colleagues,
I hope this email finds you amidst a bustling new fall semester. I have been uplifted by my students’ enthusiasm for my university’s return to in-person classes and rehearsals, and the prospect of performing live music after such a long hiatus.
This is a slow period as NOA treasurer, but I continue to work with Kirk Severtson regarding a financial audit in accordance with the organizational by-laws. I also continue to serve on the 2022 Conference Committee, and look forward to seeing everyone gather in person in Florida in January.
