This week's Shine-A-Light Spotlight
Nymphidels
Nymphidels (N) (nim fa dels)
Two piece original kick ass rock duo from Providence.  No that is not Wikipedia’s definition or even Websters.  As a matter of fact you won’t find a definition in either (yet)!
That is also not a typo, this band is made up of TWO, Jess Moroney on vox/guitar & Pat Flanagan back up vox /drums.
Now be honest, you just read two piece band…..and you thinking “how hip can a two piece band be?’ and a small part of your brain is translating this as a lounge act at some upscale Hampton Inn.  This is definitely not the case with the Nymphidels.  This duo will instantly erase those imagines from the moment a song is put forth from the stage. There is no need to compensate with additional musicians to round out their sound or stage presence.
The duo had their first show in January 2012 and hasn't stopped, frequently on many local nightly line ups.  2012 also had the two making their NYC debut.  Jess truly rocks out on vocals (Mike Jagger like) & electric guitar to Pat’s rollicking drum beats. Their reputation for high-impact original rock music, dynamic on-stage chemistry, and building a loyal fan base along the way, has earned them several nominations in local magazines for "Breakthrough Band of the Year".
You can witness this powerful, talented rock duo act yourself at one of their upcoming shows.

Mike is a staple of the Providence music community. Throughout the years Mike has been a booking agent, promoter, and talent buyer at many of the area's venues and has been the talent buyer for Lupo's & The Met for as long as most of us can remember. Lupo's & The Met are two of Rhode Island's premier venues and hosts national bills of all genres. Through his role as a talent buyer, Mike has worked with some of the top acts in not only the country, but the world. He also loves and supports the local music scene. And he knows it better than anyone.

Brian Manfredi | Senior Account Executive at 95.5 WBRU
https://www.facebook.com/95.5.WBRU

Brian is an integral part of WBRU and has been working with the station for the past four years. Due to the stations close relationship with local artists, Brian knows the local music scene extremely well. WBRU's support for local artists is unmatched. They are one of the few commercial radio stations to play local music every night throughout the week on their "Home Bru'd" program, they host an annual "Rock Hunt" event where the winner gets their track played in regular rotation for the entire year & performs with a national act at Lupo's for WBRU's Annual Birthday Bash, and they often have local bands open for national acts since they sponsor a large amount of big, national bills throughout the year.

He is also a regular at The Midday Social and has been a supporter and dear friend of Midday Records from the beginning. Marc does all he can to help shine a spotlight on local, hardworking musicians. As a music columnist with Motif Magazine he reviews shows, new releases, and interviews bands. Motif Magazine has a beautiful online site and is still available in print all around RI and MA.

The week leading up to the event we will be doing a Midday Records take over of990WBOB.COM. Each band in the competition will have an interview on Rhode Island's biggest and best internet radio station. 990WBOB will also be playing music from these artists.

Not enough? Following the event every runner up will be scheduled on 90.7 WXINFM for an interview on the stations The Afternoon Drive program. And, of course, will also have their music played.

This entire event incorporates the spirit of The Midday Social creating opportunities with RI's premier venues; commercial, college, & internet radio; and print & online music publications.

The Midday Social is one of New England's fastest growing music related networking events. These events have hundreds of attendees, local music industry reps from the area's top commercial/college/internet radio stations; magazine journalists and music bloggers; promoters and talent buyers from New England's best venues; and many others involved in local, independent music.

The next Midday Social is Thursday, February 27th at Platforms in Providence, RI. The event starts at 7:00 PM. There is an industry rep panel at 8:30 and a few acoustic performances throughout the night. At 10:00 we will have the two winners of this event close out the night.
