ROOMS WITH A CHERRY ON TOP.

Welcome to the second email in our 5-part room inspiration series! As we’re all spending a lot more time inside, it’s a good opportunity to evaluate how your home looks and figure out what you’d like to change to make it even better. We’ve got some tips and photos to help—hope you enjoy the inspiration!

With love,

THE KITCHEN

Your kitchen is the soul of your home. It’s for more than just cooking, it’s also for making and sharing memories with family and friends. While you may not be inviting guests over for cocktail parties right now, there are still ways to keep your kitchen feeling warm and inviting!
  • Get organized: Utensils, cutlery, small appliances, excess dishes, coffee mugs—items like these can stack up over time and slow you down. Before you do anything else, go through and make a donation pile with anything you don’t use. For the remaining items, organize them based on their use; for example, all spices in one area, all cooking utensils in another, and so forth. We’re big fans of The Container Store and recommend investing in organizers for your cabinets, pantries, drawers, and everywhere else that clutter accumulates. You’ll feel much more efficient in your kitchen once everything has its own place!
  • Do a deep cleaning: Once you’ve gotten rid of any junk in your kitchen, your next step is to perform a deep cleaning. We’re not joking when we say deep either—that means paying attention to the spots you may usually overlook, like light fixtures, cabinet interiors, under appliances, and more. We always work with natural products, and here are a few of our tried and tested faves: good ol’ vinegar and hot water, Weiman Granite & Stone Sealer Spray, and Sprayway Stainless Steel Cleaner.
  • Add personality: While we all love a clean and open kitchen, yours doesn’t have to be totally minimalist. Liven up the space by adding interesting personal touches, such as using vintage canisters for utensils, adding fresh cut flowers to a beautiful vase, or stacking your best cutting boards and displaying them along with a picture-perfect bowl of fruit. One more tip: beautify your kitchen sink area by using jewelry trays to house your sponge and soap dispenser (be sure to choose a chic one that matches your décor!).
